Envy wraps around my heart like a snake,
tightening its grip with each shake.
Each smile and joy I should share,
are instead held back in fear.

Chaotic thoughts and burning jealousy,
Fill my stomach with dread.
As happiness soars beyond my sight,
I am left in anguish, alone in the night.

My envy casts a twisted shadow,
that brings discontentment in tow.
It snuffs out light in my life,
leaving me with perpetual strife.

Yet in the depths of despair and pain,
there is still one life-giving flame.
That inner faith burned so bright,
can free me from envy's spite.

You cannot own or have what isn't meant for you,
It only serves to make you blue.
Envy is a heavy burden to carry,
But the antidote to this is to be merry.

I let it linger but I just cannot rest.
The dregs of jealousy fill my veins
Flowing slow, it drives me insane.
