Monster - 2016 version - Ch 4-6/29
-"Monster, how should i feel?"-
After getting on her bus, Annie sat in the back where she was sure nobody could hear her. After the bus started moving again, everybody starting loudly talking. Meanwhile in the back, Annie was talking quietly to Monster. "Okay, now that everybody is being their loud selves.. Monster, how should I feel?"
"As of now, the correct emotions to feel is overwhelmed, and boredom." the creature replied. Annie nodded and let herself feel what he told her. When she did, however, she was tempted to yell at everybody to be quiet. Knowing it'd get her in trouble, she kept quiet herself. Monster then grabbed her phone and earbuds and turned on calming music. Much better, Annie didn't even need to ask. She knew to feel calm now.
The bus didn't have many more stops to go, luckily the "school monsters" apparently got a ride from their parents to school. Once the bus came to a full stop at the school, the driver opened the bus doors and said "have a nice day" to everybody as they left. Most kids rolled their eyes, others didn't respond. Annie smiled and waved back kindly which made the driver happy. Annie then arrived in school about half an hour before school begun.
"Well Annie, time to face the day. Let's make it count" Monster said, "And don't worry, nobody can see me" he seemed uncertain, but it was true. Like her shadow, nobody knew he was there. Then, the "school monsters" came.
"Monster, how should I feel?" Annie asked quietly before they got into auditory range.
"As in this situation, never let your guard down." Monster replied. Annie did so, listening to his instructions. Beating the "school monsters".
-"Lunch, loneliness, and a new friend"-
Annie was at lunch after feeling hunger, this was harder than she'd thought but still, Annie chose to go as far as she could. Monster was sitting by her at lunch, as always Annie sat alone.
Annie sighed mournfully, "Monster, why am I alone?" she then said.
"Because Annie, you are too different. They know that. They do not like difference." Monster replied.
"But I just don't want to be a-" Annie began, right before the speaker interjected with an announcement.
"Attention students! We have a new student coming to this school, she will be at the cafeteria in two minutes. Please treat her with respect"
Monster grew a smile, "There's your new friend Annie" he chuckled.
-"Time for lunch, Monster"-
"What?? I've never had a friend before! What if she doesn't like me? What if she sides with the bullies?? What if-"
"Annie! calm down!! She'll like you, you'll be fine, just stay calm" Monster replied urgently.
Not too long after Monster helped Annie calm herself down, the principle walked in with the new student behind her, close behind her. She was young girl, she looked about the same age as Annie. She was wearing a small red dress with the rim a darker shade of red, black pants and a pink bow in her hair. She had dark brown hair that was put up in a hair tie, it looked like it'd go down to her back if it wasn't held up.
"Students, this is Chai May." Chai seemed to be from another country, maybe China or Japan Annie thought. Chai seemed nervous, so the principle decided to help her find a seat after getting her lunch. Then the principal asked who was to show her around. Everybody started screaming, begging to be picked. Chai was now hiding behind the principle, not so well but she tried. She was clearly more nervous than when she entered the room.
The principle saw that, then she replied saying, "We will have none of that, I will choose." Then she saw Annie, sitting quietly in the corner, all too obvious that she was trying not to be noticed. Knowing that Annie was without friends she said "Annie, will you show Chai around?"
