Fight Like A Girl
#WritcoStoryPrompt33
"It's a girl! "
The doctor gushed, placing the wailing infant on the woman's chest.
She heaved trying to catch her breath in the aftermath of her gruelling labour. Tears of pain mingled briefly with tears of joy before dissolving into tears of sadness.
She had once again given birth to a girl! Her third daughter. What would her husband and in-laws do to her now?
Amidst the happiness of her darling's birth her thought went back to the harsh cutting words of Aditya ( her husband) and Shalini maa( her mother in law). The words clinged in her ears.. " now if its a girl Rama, you better go home. We can't look after 3 girls"
Her heart became heavy...
She looked at the innocent face of her darling and burst into tears..
The nurse asked her the reason but she kept mum..
Neither Aditya nor her in law's arrived to look after her as her father in law was down with Jaundice.
After she got discharged, she went to Sweet Smile orphanage who looked after Rama in her childhood..
She didn't go there to leave her daughter but she went to live there with her daughter and worked at the orphanage as a care taker...
Aditya after long years saw a news..
The youngest lady IAS officer Ms. Ditya Aggarwal giving interview along with her single mother Rama made him regret on his deeds..
Daughters are not to be left... They are to be kept as treasure.. They will shine and rise... Daughters are no more weaker section. It's the social mind that's weaker...
