I have Kept your flower safe
It was Makarsankranti and for us this festival has special significance. it is kind of promise day for Maithil like me. On this occasion my father( we call him Pita Ji instead of papa) offered me prasad made up of sesame seeds(तिल) unbroken rice(अक्षत) and jaggery and while offering this special prasad he asked me to promise good deed in life. it's our cultural aspect where elderly people offer this special prasad and ask you if you agree to accept their terms and conditions ? three time you have to pronounce your agreement to every individual whosoever offer this prasad to you. it could be you mom, father, or any other family member who are elder to you. This year while performing this ritual I dare to ask my father the rational of this yearly promise making. I simply asked Pita ji the promise were made ever for whole life so why we need to repeat the same process again and again year after year does this promise has yearly expiry date and need new agreement every year ?
he smiled and told me that the promise made has no expiry date but our psychosomatic existence has its own limitations it has no value for promises ? promises are not it's language it only understand what is needed to survive and what is their to repeat as habit. it is like a rose petals need to sprinkle water regularly to keep it fresh . I end up getting great lesson of life and promised him to have a meaningful life.
Me: Pita Ji I have kept your flower safe and it is in my very existence. Everyone around can smell n feel your vital presence . Will handover this very flower to generations to come so that blossom well and it's eternal fragrance can reach wide and forth to perfume the world.
