One afternoon, in January 2020, at about 17:00GMT, when some churches were fasting and praying, Kojo joined one of them since he was their music director. He was doing his National Service in a town somewhere in Ghan.
As usual of him, he was the first to reach the church for rehearsal and was later joined by Atsu the drummer. As they were sitting under the mahogany tree on the church's compound waiting for the other members, they saw a very beautiful, attractive, young lady passing by with a boy about six years younger than her carrying a pan on his head. They were selling; toothbrushes, toothpaste, soaps, etc.
Kojo had just moved into the town and didn't know anybody apart from his fellow service personnel, work colleagues, and the members of the choir.
Kojo was initially posted to the district office but he requested to be posted to one of the local towns within the district instead. After he was given his letter, the District officer gave him a word of advice. He should be careful and stay away from unprotected sex because, from the records of the Health Service, STDs were on the increase in that area. His colleagues also told him how dangerous the locals were when they find a foreigner with their ladies. So Kojo was always keeping away from the ladies of the town even though the ladies did approach him. He played a lot of musical instruments too.
On this faithful day, Kojo tried to avoid the lady and watch her proceed with her business but the 'love at first sight' he had for her made it impossible for him. He asked the Atsu if he knew her since the town wasn't too big and they knew each other. Atsu gave some positive remarks about her which made Kojo more interested in her and they called her. The young lady had a beautiful smile which Kojo wouldn't for a second take his sight off her. "God is truly a talented artist," Kojo said to Atsu as she and the boy walked towards them.
Kojo just like other guys adored her beauty before requesting to buy a toothpaste since his had finished and he forgot to buy one as he was returning from work.
He asked for her name. And she said, Faith. Kojo asked if he would meet her again and she gave him the direction to her house. But he didn't know anywhere apart from his house, workplace, church, and market so he asked she told Atsu to direct him and she left them to continue with her business.
After a few days, Kojo met Faith in front of his workplace. He never searched for her house after their first meeting.
Faith gave him the direction to her house and invited him over for an evening meal which he intentionally missed again but had her in his thought fantasizing about her.
Finally, he and a senior colleague who was posted a month before Kojo decided to roam around and see the town. That was when they discovered Faith's house.
There was a school in the house that was owned by her father who was also a Reverend of the Methodist Church.
As time went by, and the relationship grew stronger, some of the guys started giving negative remarks about Faith to Kojo just so that he will break up with her. Some claimed they were dating her and others also said she was a call girl. It was later discovered that those guys have tried their chance on her and it didn't work so they won't allow an outsider to get her either.
Faith, on the other hand, is a well-trained young lady with good manners. Her parents gave her and her siblings a good upbringing.
Since Kojo loved Faith and knew also that nobody was perfect, didn't take heed to their remarks about her and continued with her.
When all their efforts weren't working, they started creating enmity between her big brother and Kojo. The brother asked her to stay away from Kojo. She believed the stories he told her and she started avoiding Kojo.
The guys planned to ambush and teach Kojo a lesson he won't ever forget but then, they discovered that he was working with the security service and that, his boss was aware of what was going on. They realized that they would be arrested if anything happens to Kojo so they left him alone.
Kojo finally got the chance to finally meet Faith and they both solved their problems. That was when she saw that, it was all a setup to get rid of him due to jealousy.
He fought hard to gain her trust and since then, their bond keeps growing stronger.
