"So we good now...your not going to smash my skull in with that fancy club of yours..?!" the boy said
I told him that we would help him get to the safe haven and he would help us with my ankle.
"What's your name?" I said
"Lucas" he said and put out his hand for me to shake.
"Right Lucas how exactly are you going to help me?" I said ignoring his hand.
With an hurt expression or a surprised one, I couldn't tell he said "You know I'm smarter than I look...... I took a class in high school "
"Fine so get the crap you need and get on with it!"
"Chill out woman....this ain't exactly a good place to do it."
"Call me woman one more time and I definitely will smash you skull in." I said in a calm but stern voice.
"Alright..Alright sorry....I'll collect the stuff I need from here and we can go across the road into the woods little dude here can help me out with that.....Sound good?"
"Fine whatever, but if you as much touch a little-"
"Relax I wont hurt the kid."
And they walked off collecting stuff around the store. I already regret my decision.
The boys collected all the stuff they needed and we walked across the road into the woods. I didnt like going in there anymore my mind was hunted with bad memories of me running away, Tracy... I just feel uneasy here. We set up my tent and I grabbed my first aid kit from my backpack thinking that might help.
"You couldnt have mention you had a first aid before!" Lucas said
"Sorry, just slipped my mind I guess." I said calmly
"Haha" he laughed sarcastically
He poked and prodded my ankle
"It looks like it is a really really really REALLY bad sprang" He said "I'm going to make a splint and make you rest in here for 3 weeks sounds good?"
"Are you kidding I cant stay here for 3 weeks?!" I said jerking into a sitting position. A sharp pain went through my foot and I yelped out in pain.
"See yes you can dont worry me and the kid can keep watch." Lucas said
"No..No No No you dont understand I cant stay I the woods I just cant!" I was practically yelling now
"Come your butt down we'll protect you.."
"NO! YOU DONT UNDERSTAND! I CANT STAY IN THE WOODS TRACY WILL COME BACK OR-OR MAYBE MY DAD!" tears were rushing into my eyes I couldnt stop them. Lucas jerked me down into a laying position "Look." he said "I dont know what your talking about but if you think you can walk around without needing that club of yours, your wrong so your stuck in here in these woods for at least 3 weeks....you got it."
I calmed down a little taking deep breaths "Yeah...Yeah fine...."
"You want to talk about" Lucas said looking curious
"Ask joey he'll tell you....just go make your stupid splint" I said wiping my tears from my face. Lucas walked out. I could here him asking Joey about it. I ignored them I closed my eyes trying to stop thinking about my family and my once high school bully. I slowly drifted off into the darkness of my mind.

I woke up. I saw a splint on my ankle and a shadow in front of the tent door. It looked like the sun had just set. Joey was sleeping soundly besides me. I assumed the shadow was Lucas. I didnt want to wake joey up so I sat there elbows propped up underneath me. I wondered if I could trust this random guy who I found in a gas station. Joey seemed to like him. I thought about how things might have been different if a stupid zombie apocalypse wasnt happening. My family probably would be going on the annual vacation to disney land. My brother would be soo excited. I laughed silently to myself...thinking of his little face. A smile stretched from ear to ear. My brother's smile was always beautiful. I lied back down and looked at Joey. He looked so peaceful when he slept. Soon enough I fell into another deep dreamless sleep.
