Meat
Growing up during a famine is not one you willingly do. Enduring one with an abusive wife, even more so. But such was the life of Ibrahim, your run of the mill fisherman in Maldives. After spending days on the sea fishing, he had to come home to a wife who constantly berates and hits him. Not to mention, she had ordered him to bring her a slab of tuna meat every time he comes back from a trip.

It was a sunny Thursday when he came back from fishing with a somber mood. 3 days at sea and he and his fellow fishermen were unable to catch even a single fish. He walked towards his house, knowing that only a beating awaited there.

Suddenly, he thought of an alternative. A very crazy alternative. He looked at his surrounding to see if he was alone then walked deeper into the forest. There, he took his machete and cut a small amount of meat from his thigh. He then bandaged his thigh and wrapped the meat before leaving for his house. Unlike the previous days, instead of entering his house, he went to the kitchen and cooked the meat before giving it to his wife. The wife was satisfied with it and the fisherman breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that the whole ordeal was over. Oh how wrong was he.

Several weeks later, the wife began craving for the same kind of meat and ordered the fisherman to bring it to her again. As such, the fisherman had little choice but to do it again. This became a routine once every few weeks and the wife's obsession grew eveytime he brought the meat. She began asking him what kind of meat this was and how he was getting it but the fisherman kept quiet making the wife suspicious.

And so, one day the wife after ordering him to bring her the meat again stood in a inconspicuous area in the beach, awaiting her husband. When he came back from the trip, she was surprised to find him come empty handed. She then followed him into the forest where she witnessed him cutting off meat from him thighs. But this didn't cause her to feel disgusted.

She quietly left for her house ahead of the fisherman and waited. That night, when he slept the wife took a machete and took his life.

When her husband seemingly disappeared, no one in the entire island was surprised. Her abusive nature was well known and most people assumed that the husband wisened up, divorced her and left for a new beginning at another island. Simply put, no one was looking for the husband.

Then came Fithr Eid and the wife through a feast. When the guest arrived there were several different types of dishes prepared. One of the guests then went to scoop some fish paste on his rice but when he took out the spoon, he was met with a human skull. Needless to say the wife was arrested, and sentenced to death.
