While trying to find what is the difference and what it means, from several books and articles. these are my thoughts on this......
Individuals who adopt a materialistic worldview focus their attention on external objects and aspirations, gradually constructing and expanding their sense of self. On the other hand, those who lean towards spirituality embark on a journey to explore the true nature of their inner being, fostering a profound connection with their spiritual essence. Through this exploration, they cultivate a deep and meaningful connection with their spiritual essence, which ultimately leads to the gradual dissolution and reduction of their ego.
When comparing materialism and spirituality, it is important not to perceive them as conflicting forces. This misconception often stems from the widely held belief that spirituality and materialism are mutually exclusive.
There is a common notion that desiring material possessions is inherently selfish and self-centered, while pursuing spirituality entails renouncing worldly possessions. Where Material wealth is measured in money and possessions, spiritual wealth comes from inner joy, good deeds, and cannot be taken away, and both are needed to live this life that has been given by almighty. In addition, it is often assumed that choosing one path automatically entails sacrificing the other. However, in reality, it is possible for individuals to engage in spiritual pursuits while still residing in the materialistic world. Hinduism, in particular, does not appear to advocate for a complete rejection of material existence; however, it strongly opposes the pursuit of material possessions as the ultimate purpose in life.
