GOLD MINES

We sat on gold mines everyday, failing to dig deep to find treasures in the places and things we already had.

So, we looked afar in search of gold, sometimes with the knowledge that we sat on gold mines; and at other times, we knew nothing about these mines.

We chose to make it easier to see what other people had - after they had found, refined and put their gold into use. We failed to see the deposits that were dormant in and around us, begging to be explored, begging to find expression.

In all sincerity, we realised that most of the lack and poverty we suffered physically, spiritually, materially, financially and intellectually, had but little connections with external forces - like other persons and our environments. The larger chunk of what powered our lack and poverty derived from within us, owing to our thoughts and actions.

We suffered for so long till our eyes were opened, and we realised that the things we already had - in and around us, had the perfect answers to our lingering questions; the only solutions to the challenges we faced.

Right now, before we ask God for some more, we stand before a clear mirror and ask ourselves:
"what have we done with the little we already have?"
