On that day, in your bed
Battling the pain with a smile,
Looking back at me without a sigh,
Assuring me you will be fine ..

I reached out for your hand,
You also reached out back
You were not speaking,
Not a single word spoken ..

But I can see through your eyes
It spoke to me with a gentle light
Telling me it's going to be alright
Nothing to worry now, no pain will be insight ..

As you fought the last battle with all your might,
It pained me more for I know there was that struggle
But as I was holding your hands it conveyed to me,
That you've ended it victoriously ..

Now, you are at peace and you have laid to rest,
You are gone now but know you will never be forgotten,
Your passing away will always be
A scar within me, in my heart, forever be.
