For a timeless moment, he was suspended within the confines of his car. Then gravity took over with a force that sent the vehicle hurtling down the face of the ravine.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." His broken apology flew down with the blood spewing from his lips...
I desperately screamed as I struggled with the seatbelt, trees spinning by as the car flew forward.
It seemed like hours as we gunned down the ravine but it was only a second that had lasted. My heart bounced through my chest. My pulse raced in my ears. The gasping of my breath that left me with no air.
The front corner of the car caught on a tree and spun suddenly, my seatbelt digging into my neck. I screamed again, sobbing as I tried to get control of the car. The unknown man beside me did nothing - he was limp and his breathing was shallow.
"Dear God," I begged through my split and bloody lips.
My head crashed back as the car suddenly crashed into two trees by the left side, completely crushing the windows. As glass rained down on me, I sobbed again like that terrified little girl from years ago.
When the ringing calmed down and my heart stopped beating in my throat, I cracked...
