Dear To Celebrate
#WritcoStoryPrompt42
She chose her cleanest piece of clothing to wear. It was a festival afterall and she wanted to celebrate with everyone else. When she stepped into the street a speeding car drove by splashing dirty water on her.
A tear fell down her cheek. The poor had no right to celebrate...

She stood there for a moment, feeling the wetness seeping through her clothes. Her heart sank as she watched the car disappear into the distance. But then she took a deep breath and reminded herself why she was here. It was a festival, a time to celebrate and forget about the struggles of daily life. She wiped the tear from her cheek and continued down the street.

As she walked, she saw children running around, couples holding hands, and families laughing together. Despite the splash of dirty water, the atmosphere was still joyful and lively. She couldn't help but smile at the sight of it all.

Suddenly, she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to see a young boy holding a towel. "I saw what happened," he said. "Here, take this. You shouldn't have to be wet on such a happy day."

Her eyes filled with tears once again, but this time they were tears of gratitude. She thanked the boy and dried herself off with the towel. She then looked around and saw the beauty of the festival all around her. She realized that no matter what happened, the poor had every right to celebrate.

With a newfound sense of hope, she joined the festivities and danced with the rest of the crowd. As the night went on, she felt a sense of belonging and happiness that she hadn't felt in a long time. She left the festival that night with a smile on her face and a renewed appreciation for the small moments of joy in life.
