DAY FOUR: Kuluso Police Station, 23rd April 2018, 8:48am.
Cynthia’s P.O.V
I met Ruth during our departmental orientation program for freshmen. We became friends from that day. We had our fun moments, mimicking our lecturers, had a karaoke practice in my room on Friday evenings, teased each other, and played intellectual games like chess, scrabble, and monopoly.
We drifted apart ever since she created boundaries for me to not invade her space or pry into her affairs. She over thinks and whenever I asked her to share her burdens with me, she snobs me.
I hate to see my best friend lost in thoughts or being bothered ,and I’m just being concerned about her mental health , emotional wellbeing , and things that pertain to her.
I had to give her space when she lashed out at me for being bossy and entitled. To be honest, our friendship has gone down the drain and there seems to be no hope to revive its spark because of the mysteries I uncovered as regards Ruth.
I’m not friends with Tomiwa because it seems she is fake and like a time bomb waiting to explode during festivities.
I and Teju have known each other since high school. We were so close as a result of the bond between his family and mine. Along the line, I had a crush on him in my first year in high school but he seemed uninterested.
I summoned the courage to ask him out after our school leaving certificate exams had ended, he accepted my proposal, we dated for months, and became intimate in the course of our relationship. He broke up with me on the grounds of being fed up with my overbearing attitude .
Consequently, We gained admission into the same university and same department. The feelings I thought were buried were exhumed and reignited when I saw him in my class. I knew he had a fiancée, but that doesn’t stop me from trying my luck with Teju.
All of a sudden, I noticed his closeness with Ruth and there I knew something is fishy. I never liked Rita from the beginning because I saw her as being overly jealous, and rude to any girl that tries to get acquainted with her lover. She is overly protective of a national cake ( ladies'man) like Teju.
