MY STORY..
It's all started like a dream and ended in a blink of an eye. It was another great day,waking up to see the bright morning sun. I felt peace,hope,love and a another chance. I was very grateful for the beautiful gift of life.
It was on the 5th of August 2006. I was 17years old. I was living with my parent and my kid brother in an apartment at East legon(Accra). I waked up as early as I could to do all my house chores on time. I did everything very fast and prepared break fast. I did all that because i had a party to attend and i had to convince my parents because they were business minded and they really hated parties and outings.
It was my bestfriend's birthday party so i planned on arriving at her house on time to help with the cooking and everything . We made a lot of plans.
We were all seated quietly having our breakfast. The place was quiet to the extent that we could have heard something if a pin drops. I was scared, how am I going to inform them.
I cleared my throat to seek attention. The look on daddy's face nearly gave me a heart attack, but i wasn't really bothered. I told them it was Cindy's birthday party and her parents had invited me.
Daddy spoke on top of his voice... You're not leaving this house period. Mummy started with her usual story. Have you forgotten the incident that occurred last 2 month. Dede our neighbor's daughter who died in a car accident when she went out with her friends. You're not going anywhere. I got pissed off and run into my room.
I slept on my bed and i started hitting the bed while screaming and crying. I can't afford to miss it, hell no... I stopped immediately when i had a plan. I smiled and wiped my tears.
I dress up and i used the back door and escaped. I arrived on time and few people had arrived. Cindy was very happy to see me. She was looking good and her make-up was on point. Her parents were very happy to see me.
There was smoke all over the place and the last thing i remembered was i was on the hospital bed. Mum,dad and junior were crying. I pinched myself to check if i was dreaming, but i wasn't i haven't seen daddy crying before so i was surprised.
I realized i was being covered with P.O.P. I didn't know what was happening. A doctor came in with a nurse who was holding a mirror. She gave me the mirror and after seeing my face i screamed, i thought i was in a different body. My face was badly burnt.What happened to me. I wept bitterly. What happened to my beautiful face. I felt the world was against me.
I was discharged few months later because i had both inner and outer injuries. I tried harder to forget the past but i couldn't. Everything around me kept on reminding me of the incident. I never set my eyes on Cindy or even her parents. My parents refused to give me details on the incident.
Few years later all my mates had already completed shs,i was a school dropout. I couldn't recover on time. My parents informed me that there was a fire outbreak. Few people survived and the surviving one's were badly injured. Cindy died.. Her father lost his sights and her mum was paralyzed. I wept bitterly. How ... Why her? I cried and i wished i had died.
I went to my room. I sat infront of my dressing mirror looked at myself. I wish i had listen to my parents. I wished everything could just be a dream. I cried... I felt my life was over. I have heard of happy endings but mine was a nightmare.
I waked up the next day and realized everything was a dream. I doze off while i was crying and hitting the bed. I went and stand infront of the mirror to confirm. I was perfectly fine. I had missed Cindy's calls so i called her back. she picked up and she informed me that they had cancelled the party because they're traveling. I screamed and i started jumping . My parents bumped in,i hug them and i apologize. I was the happiest girl on earth. I didn't know if all i wish for had come true or it was just a dream but it doesn't really matter now.
