Monster - 2016 version - Ch 7-9/29
-"M-monster.."-
"Hey.." Chai said shyly. "Me!?" Annie said with shock. She was scared to say yes but seeing as how she was the only one in the room who was the calmest, Chai probably would be less nervous and more willing to talk. Annie sighed, "Okay Mrs. C" she replied.
Mrs. C lead Chai to where Annie was sitting after getting Chai some lunch, then she had Chai sit next to Annie. After she left, Annie shyly waved. Chai did the same. About three minutes passed of them saying nothing, finally, Annie said something to break the silence, "Hello" she said
"Smile Annie" Monster whispered in her ear. Annie smiled, it was a little off but Chai didn't seem to notice.
"Hi.." Chai replied hesitantly, now looking up from her half eaten lunch.
"So, mind if I ask where you from?" Annie asked, clearly trying to make conversation.
"I was born in China, though my mom is American. That's how I know English. My dad doesn't know it well." Chai said. Now she seemed more willing to talk.
Annie was about to ask another question when the bell rang signaling the students that lunch was over.
"Back at my old school, we would go to recess, does this school do that too?" Chai asked.
"They're planning on it, yes. I signed up to vote on it and if everybody agrees for a new playground then the students that sign up for it gets to help build it too" Annie replied.
"I love building!" Chai said in a louder voice. The teacher clearly heard that. He walked over to Chai and Annie and gave Chai a sign up sheet to vote for the playground, to which Chai smiled at.
When the girls got to the classroom, they saw that the desks were moved, well Annie saw. Annie then told Chai how it was before. When the girls got to their desks, they saw a piece of paper on Chai's desk.
"Oh! That's to write your name on to put on your desk, see?" Annie said, holding up a piece of light blue paper. It had her name on it along with some birds, flowers and trees. "You can decorate it however you want to and you can even use stickers to spell out your name." she continued. Chai now seemed really excited.
"Let's get started!" Chai said happily, "you can help, Annie" she said. Annie smiled. They decorated Chai's nametag using tree stickers, drawings, markers and fancy letter stickers for her name.
"Looks good" Annie said. Then she realized something, "where is everybody?" she said looking around. Then she looked at the clock, "it's time for class." Annie pulled out her schedule, they were in the right classroom. This was the right schedule. The right day. So why was nobody in there?
"Maybe we should go look for them?" Chai suggested. Annie nodded, paused, then shrugged.
"They'll be fine. Lets just go look for a teacher" Annie said, right before Mrs. C walked in.
"Your class is late?" she asked, then looked at the clock. "Yikes! Very late!!" she said putting her hand on her head, "you stay here girls, I'll go get them" she said leaving.
It only took two minutes, soon the class was rushing in like a stampede of elephants with the teacher close behind. Now the class could start.
-"Their first slumber party"-
Annie and Chai were friends for about a month now, though Annie hasn't been to Chai's house and Chai was never at Annie's. Today was the day. Chai asked her mom to go to Annie's house for a slumber party. It was Annie's idea, she had been planning the slumber party for the past two weeks. Now Chai was finally going to ask her mom to do this.
"Hey, mom?" Chai said when her mom came to pick her up from school.
"What is it, Chai?" her mom replied.
"Can I go over to Annie's house for a slumber party?"
"What?? NO!"
"But mom, Annie's my first friend in this school!"
"I don't care! You can't ju-"
Chai made puppy dog eyes, "please?????"
"Oh Chai, please don't give me that look.." her mom said shortly before replying with, "Oh all right. You can have a slumber party with your friend. But I'm not dropping you off, they need to pic you up."
"I'll just walk from the bus stop" Chai said. "Annie knows the fastest route"
"Okay, is the bus still here or do you want to go home and get things for tomorrow?"
"Maybe Annie will let me borrow hers?" Chai said. Before she asked Annie who was standing a few inches away, Annie nodded confirming the answer being yes. Everything was now set up, Chai followed Annie to the bus, got on and they sat in back.
On the way to Annie's house Chai whispered in her ear "always works" the she winked at her.
Throughout the whole night Annie had laughed more than ever while Chai laughed along telling jokes and reading Teenager Posts from her phone. The first joke told Monster had to tell Annie to laugh. They'd been practicing Annie's laugh all week because Monster told her there will be a lot of laughter involved in a slumber party and/or a play date. She needed to know how to laugh at funny things, which showed that she was having fun. Indeed she was.
-"I have a secret to tell"-
Chai and Annie were preparing to share secrets, as good friends do. Chai was gonna go first. Annie didn't know what secret to tell.
"Monster, I don't have many secrets. What can I tell her?" Annie asked Monster in secret
"Tell her about me. If she is your friend she won't say a word about it" Monster replied
"Oh but what if she does!?!" Annie started to stress out.
"It'll be fine Annie, just trust her" Monster said. Annie breathed in then out and sighed.
"Okay"
Chai and Annie met back in Annie's bedroom. "You first Chai. Then me, right?"
"Okay Annie"
"Okay, what's the secret?"
"Well, this isn't something I'm proud of or like. I um.. I have bipolar disorder.." she looked down
"Wow, really? I don't think it's that bad."
"Really? Thanks Annie. What's yours?"
"Um.. I have a "follower" that helps me feel"
At that, Chai was all ears. It's time to tell somebody to get it off her chest.
"His name is Monster. Before we met, I had no emotions. He came and gave me all emotions I should feel. He'll only show to those I say.."
"Can I see him, Annie?"
"Monster, come out"
