You first
#WritcoStoryChallenge
The setting was perfect. Candlelight, polished cutlery and a single rose set in a delicate vase at each table. With a smile on your face, glimmer in your eyes and a knife under that table. You joked and made me laugh as you were about to stab my self confidence, and my self respect. We had this puppy kind of love. So playful and carefree, I should’ve noticed the little things. How you would caress my body but also judge my curves when you wanted. I should have noticed how quiet my voice has become over the years of you yelling. I should’ve noticed how sunken my eyes were after crying 365 nights of the year. I should’ve noticed that your expectations of how I looked, spoke and acted only got higher over time. I Should’ve, I should’ve… I should’ve known you were gonna stab me and after all these years of paper cuts I should’ve stabbed you first.
