Doctor
30th December, 2019.
9.30 pm
Today our new paying guest arrived. She's Anjali, a fresh MBBS who has recently joined NRS Medical College for doing her MD. Her father Dr Mitra is a veteran cardiologist from Siliguri. His wife is dead and Anjali is their only daughter. This is the first time she would be living alone, that too in a new city. I guess Anjali would be of the same age as my daughter Payel. Maybe the two would become good friends.
29th January, 2020.
6.30 pm
As I had anticipated, Anjali and Payel became friends from day one. They often chat and sometimes go to see movies on Sundays. Payel has always craved for a sister. Now it seems she has found one in Anjali.

8 pm
Payel is very excited today. This year is proving to be very lucky for her. Her office has selected her and a few other software engineers to go to the US for six months to get a special training. This training, she said, would boost her career. She was glowing with happiness when her friends came to take her out to party. It's a pity that Anjali could not join them. Nowadays she mostly remains busy in the hospital.
8th March, 2020.
9 pm
Payel's US trip got cancelled due to the outbreak of some viral infection there. It is called Coronavirus or 'China virus' as the out break first started in Wuhan district of China. Coronavirus is now spreading like wild fire to different parts of the world.
Payel is very disappointed at the sudden turn of events. She says that people are unreasonably getting paranoid about this silly virus which is nothing but a type of flu.
But Anjali refuses to take the virus so lightly. She said that WHO may declare the disease as pandemic. She says that travelling and attending social gatherings should be avoided now. It's all so confusing.
14th March, 2020.
7.30 pm
Coronavirus has been declared a pandemic by WHO. But Payel hasn't taken it seriously. Today she has gone to Darjeeling with her friends for a week. We repeatedly asked her to cancel the trip but she refused to listen.
Anjali mostly remains busy at the hospital and never returns...
