Resurrection of Hearts
Warning
If you don't like kissing scenes you may not want to read it, just a warning. . I hope you like the story 💗

The sunrise bathed Brian and May's house in a soft light as the couple, though physically apart, felt an internal emptiness. Brian had become lost amid long workdays and meetings, while May found herself caught between taking care of Amy (their child), household chores, and work.

It wasn't always like this.
(Flashback)
May exuded elegance in her thin-textured black sweater and a gracefully cut cardigan draping her shoulders. Her slim silhouette was accentuated by denim pants hugging her waist. Strands of her brown braided hair fell across her forehead, some tucked behind her ears.

As her hand roamed among the bookshelves, she selected a book. While reaching for it, she sensed someone else touching the same book. When their eyes met, a wave of excitement surged within her.

The man ran his fingers through his brown hair and smiled.
- I apologize, were you looking for this book?"
•Yes. Actually, it's one of my favorites." A warm smile spread across her face. After this encounter, they began to meet and chat frequently. Their conversations deepened over time as they discovered common interests and similarities. Thus, the relationship between May and Brian started to evolve beyond friendship.

Summoning his courage, Brian confessed his feelings to May, and their relationship began. As May remembered these moments, she wiped away tears with a bittersweet gaze. Knowing she had to do something, she ran her fingers through her disheveled hair and took a deep breath. She lifted her head at the sound of a notification, finding a message from Jessica on her phone.

~Hey! We should meet at the cafe urgently. You have to come.
May's heart raced as she read the message.
•Is something wrong?
The reply came:
~No, don't ask questions. Just come to B* cafe urgently.

(...)

Upon arriving at the cafe with her beige cardigan and black turtleneck, May spotted Jessica at the corner table.
~Ah, I thought you wouldn't come, May.
Jessica quickly grabbed May's arm and began explaining what had happened. Excitement was evident on Jessica's face.
~I met a guy.
May hung her bag on the chair while asking with curiosity in her voice,
•Oh, how did you meet?
~Well, it's a bit strange. We met through some mutual friends, and I think I like him. Oh God, May, I turn bright red when I look at his face. He's probably going to think I hate him. Jessica rubbed her hands on her forehead in embarrassment.
May, feeling her friend's panic, placed her hand on Jessica's shoulder.
•Hey, first, calm down. I don't think he would assume you hate him. How does he act when you talk to him?
Jessica withdrew her hands from her forehead.
~When we're alone, we just stare at each other and can't talk, but when we're with friends, there's no problem.
May smiled at this and said,
•Then, you both might like each other. There could be developments between you two over time.
Jessica nodded positively. May noticed Jessica's pale face.
~You look pale. Is something wrong?
May avoided eye contact, seeming reluctant to share what had happened. Jessica took her by the shoulders and gently shook her.
~May, you can tell me everything. We're friends.
Unable to hold back her tears any longer, May hugged Jessica.
~Oh, May. (sadly) Jessica hugged her tightly.
•I'm so tired of this situation. (tears streaming down her cheeks) They separated.
~Tell me, what happened?
May wiped the tear from her cheek.
•There's a distance between Brian and me; it's not like it used to be.
As Jessica listened, she pondered her questions.
~Did you tell him about this, how you feel?
May shook her head negatively.
•No, I was afraid of hearing something negative from him.
~Issues are resolved through communication, but I have one more question. When was the last time you two were alone together?
•I think it's been six months, maybe even more.
~Well, the solution is simple. We'll make sure you spend time alone.
•B-but how? What about Amy? Who will take care of her?
Jessica winked.
~I'll take care of Amy; there's no doubt, honey. You think about what you both like, and talk about this issue. Remember, problems are solved through communication.
May thanked Jessica with a grateful smile.
~You're welcome, sweetie.
(...)After Jessica picked up Amy from home, May had set up a romantic table with steak, red wine, glasses, candles, and an array of accompanying foods. May looked stunning in her navy dress that accentuated her slender waist, complemented by golden earrings and a bracelet.

With Brian's arrival imminent, May took a final glance at the table when the doorbell rang. Opening the door with an excited smile, she greeted,
•Welcome.
Brian looked at May in astonishment and admirably smiled.
-Wow, May, you look amazing. Is all this preparation for me?
May, with a romantic smile, replied,
•Yes, just for you.
They took their seats at the table. Laughter, eye contact, and sincere dialogues between courses had started to melt the ice between them, alleviating the tension.Brian's eyes reflected his love for May. After a brief silence, Brian expressed, "I had thought you were cooling off towards me. There was a coldness between us that I couldn't comprehend."

May had a mixed expression of astonishment and confusion because her love for Brian had never diminished. Sitting beside Brian, May reassured him, "No, never. We were just so caught up that we couldn't understand what was happening. I could never fall out of love with you, Brian. My feelings haven't changed; I love you."

Gently holding May's hand and caressing it with his fingers, Brian looked into her eyes and apologized, "I'm sorry for thinking that. Perhaps tonight can make up for the lost time." May genuinely smiled and agreed, "Yes, you're right."

As the attraction between them intensified, Brian's hand softly gripped May's waist. Slowly leaning in, he closed the gap between them. The moment their lips touched, their hearts raced with excitement. May's breath mingled with Brian's as the warmth of her lips enchanted him. Brian pressed his lips tighter against hers. May, wrapping her arms around Brian's neck, emitted a soft moan as their tongues intertwined for the final time.

As their kiss concluded, in the dim light, they lost themselves in each other's eyes. Brian's hands delicately traced May's hair. Both felt serene and happy.

"Every passing day, I fall more in love with you, May. I thought I had lost you, and that feeling was dreadful. I love you," Brian confessed. May felt a tremor in her heart.

"Brian, I never want to lose you. I love you," May declared. They embraced, and Brian breathed in May's scent. Smiling, Brian lifted her into his arms, and together they ascended to their room, ready to continue their sweet games.
