Mussoorie " The Queen of Hills" Part 1
The students were all lined up,ready to board the bus . A buzz of excitement was in the air as they were going on their much awaited excursion. They heard an announcement on the mike by the Principal.
The usual instructions of good behaviour ,being disciplined ,obeying Teachers ,no mischiefs etc etc. After the announcement was over the roll numbers were called and students began boarding the bus. After half an hour they left the school campus . Forty students,four Teachers and a tour manager.
They were going to Mussoorie " Queen of the Hills " . Everyone was excited as they would be away for five days. Away from the school,classes,homework and away from home. Everyone of them was looking forward to this outing. They began playing ' Antakshari ' an all time favourite with every age group. After a halt for thirty minutes ,they commenced on their journey and reached Mussoorie at 4 pm. It took them a while to reach their hotel which was on the outskirts of the town.
Everyone was delighted to see the hotel .Surrounded by lush green tall trees,flowers blooming all around ,it was a feast to the eyes. After settling down in their rooms ,the students were called for tea and refreshments . The tour manager had organised a ' bon fire ' for the night . So around 7 pm everyone gathered in a field below the hotel . Since the weather was chilly ,the bon fire felt very comforting. All sat around and started chatting. ( When you are in the mountains ,I feel it is mandatory to talk about ghosts 👻👹😁) . So ghost stories began and one by one everyone shared their experiences ,some made up,some true and time passed. It was dinner time and everyone went to the restaurant and enjoyed the meal. It had been a tiring day so the students retired early ,very eager for next days activities.
Ritik and Rajat ,who were best friends ,were together in one room with two other boys. Suddenly Rajat was awakened by a strange sound coming from near the balcony. Since it was pitch dark he did not get up from bed but called out for Ritik who was sleeping next to him . A sleepy Ritik asked " What is the matter ? Why can't you sleep . "?' I heard strange noises outside I wonder what it is ' said Rajat. ' Maybe a wild animal ' said Ritik sleepily. Rajat switched on the flashlight on his mobile and got out of bed. Seeing him getting up Ritik also woke up. Very slowly they approached the balcony and removed the curtains to peep outside . They could not see a thing but the sound kept coming. Suddenly a shadow like image passed by and the mobile nearly fell out of Rajat's hand. They both screamed and the other two boys woke up with a startle and switched on the lights. " Have you two gone mad ? Scaring us like this in the middle of the night ? " Rajat and Ritik looked at each other and didn't know what to say. Maybe it was their imagination ,maybe it was just a coincidence as they were discussing ghosts earlier so their mind was playing with them . They slowly came back to bed and went off to sleep.
