Driving along a lonely road in the outskirts, trying to escape the horrendous traffic jam of the city, I managed to experience nature’s beauty. The natural landscape was extensive and lush. After hours of driving and dusk was approaching, I thought that I should stop for a while to rest.
It was nightfall and the area was completely dark. I cruised down slowly to find a place to have dinner. There was nothing in sight and I was beginning to worry. Then I saw a distant light. Hurray! I thought to myself. A food stall! As I was nearing it, I could hear loud sounds and voices. The food must be good as there were so many people. I ordered some noodles and an iced drink.
I noticed that the crowd was busy chatting and nobody seemed to be eating nor drinking. They just seemed to be smelling their food and drinks. It was an odd sight and there was an eerie and uncanny feeling.
I decided to leave the place immediately as I was having goosebumps all over. I drove away and checked into a motel in a nearby town. Then I realised that I had left my scarf on the table. I enquired about any eateries nearby but the staff knew nothing about them.
The next day, my curiosity got better of me and decided to return to that stall. I had also wanted to get my scarf back. I was horrified and nauseated when I saw that the stall was an abandoned shed. There were still plates of food with maggots crawling all over. I found my scarf which I had left behind in a hurry.
Without hesitation, I left the town and vowed never to take any shortcuts in future.
