Previously; Alex saved Sam's mother and now he's face to face with the leader of the bandits.
SAM:
I waited outside the cave for Alex to come out with Mom, and with every minute that passed, my patience, was wearing thin. Just when I thought of going to look for them, I heard what sounded like Alex's whistle and spirit raced from where I was into the cave. A few moments later, he came out with Mom on his back, I quickly ran to spirit, and mum, "Mum, mum, are you okay? are you hurt?", I asked as I moved my hand all over mum's body, The sun was almost up and Alex wasn't out, I looked towards the cave and mum, as if sensing my distress said, "He risked his life for me, he...", and with that I ran to the cave, "Sam!!!", mum yelled, I turned back, walked towards them, and looked at mum, "I need you to go home to dad, right now he needs you, he wasn't even aware that you were kidnapped or that we came to rescue you. Don't worry about me, I will be back with Alex soon", Mum touched my cheeks, and I held her hand, I smacked spirit on his side and asked him to take mum home, he neighed and ran off. After they were at a distance, I turned around and headed to the cave.
ALEX:
I scanned the cave as Sam's mother left, it was just the leader of the bandits, and 1o more bandits, "You're gonna regret that", the leader of the bandits said in a angry tone, I smirked and took my stance, ready for whatever they threw at me, they slowly surrounded me and I stood there weighing the odds of me winning, and my chances were slim, just then, I heard one of the bandits groan in pain, and as I turned, I saw Sam piercing the knife I gave her earlier into the back of one of the bandits, she looked at me with what looked like a face filled with rage and worry, I smiled at the thought, but I focused on the leader of the bandits as my father once said, a group without a head will plunge into chaos, so I launched myself at him, slowly taking a peek or two at Sam to see if she was doing okay, just then, the leader swung his axe and it hit my sword right off my hand, I fell to the floor, feeling defenseless, "ALEX!!!", I heard Sam yell but I was focused on the leader in front of me, I felt a dagger beside me and I slowly drew it close, "What's wrong, you feeling scared?", I couldn't help but laugh, even though I was scared inside, I stood up shaking, holding my left arm, "On the contrary, I'm feeling thrilled", The leader in rage swung his axe at me, but I slided below it, and cut his leg, he was shocked, I went behind him and killed the bandits at his back, took their sword, and as the leader of the bandits turned around, I climbed on one of the bandits and jumped on the leader, shouting as I drove both the swords into his left and right shoulders, making him fall to the ground, I came down and took one of the swords, and as I was about to cut off his neck..., "Alex!!", Sam said, I turned around and saw a knife placed on her neck by one of the bandits, one on each side of the bandit. The sun shone brightly on the cave as I stared at Sam and 3 of the bandits with her, "Drop it or your girl gets it", the bandit said as he pushed the knife closer to Sam's neck, "Okay, alright", I slowly brought the sword to the floor, Sam was looking at me intently, I gave her a sign moving my head backwards, and she nodded showing me she got the info. Just as the sword was about to hit the floor, Sam head-butted the bandit on his nose, and I instantly threw the sword in the bandits direction, Sam ducked and it sliced through the bandits neck, bringing his head down from his body, Sam took the sword and took care of the remaining two, as I stood up to walk to her, I felt something pierce me from behind, it was as if my heart stopped beating for a second, as I turned back, I saw the leader of the bandits holding his axe at my back, "You didn't think I would let you go so easily, did you?", he said with blood on his face, he started laughing hysterically, I brought out the axe from my back with much effort, and cut his head off with it, after which I fell to the ground, I saw Sam running to me, holding me, "No No No, please alex don't do this to me, I can't lose you", she said with teary eyes, I held up my hand to her face, feeling pain as I moved my hand, "I'm glad I got to know you, to love you, you won't lose me, I'm not going down so easily", I said as I smiled, "Don't worry, I'll get you out of here", Sam said as she helped me up, I leaned on her and inhaled her scent, a mix of spring breeze and blood, if I were to die today, I won't regret seeing and loving Sam, she was the best thing that ever happened to me, I thought and then my eyes started feeling heavy, my legs slowly gave in and I fell to the floor as we reached the entrance to the cave leading outside, when we reached, spirit was already waiting for us, I was surprised, "Your...mum...is...she...", I stuttered, but couldn't finish my words because my body was getting weaker by the minute, "Mum's alright, thanks to you, now I just have to make sure you make it home alive too, so please stay awake for my sake", Sam said, I couldn't decipher what she was saying, my vision was slowly getting dim and as I took another step, that was when my legs gave in and I fell to the floor.
