Kelsey was relieved and nauseas to see Shawn's truck still outside his house.
She stood at the front door awhile, still.
Did she really want to know?
She held a breath as she raised her hand to knock on the door but exhaled nervously as it swung halfway open.
No one had opened it, only from her touch.
She peered inside, knowing something wasn't right.
"Shawn?"she called, as she caught sight of him lying on the couch, "Shawn." She repeated, getting no answer.
She walked over to the couch and knelt down, "Shawn?"
He jumped as her hand touched his shoulder, his eyes darting to her face.
He had gotten used to sleeping light, never knowing when his father would barge in.
"Why are you here?"
"I'm sorry...I was worried something happened between your dad or... something. I tried calling and texting you and you never answered..."
"I don't feel good. Tried sleeping."
"You didn't seem sick earlier."
"Cause I didn't want to tell you..."

"Damnit... shouldn't you be getting ready to go home."
"Yeah but...you...I'm just bugging you aren't I."

Her footsteps creaked to the kitchen on the linoleum, opening a couple cabinets and turning on the faucet before returning to him.

"No. I just want to sleep. You don't understand."
