In his World (I surrender) - Chp I
Taking a deep breath, I walked into the hall where my interview was suppose to take place. Silence filled around and me sitting in middle of the hall with three humans in front of me staring at the paper which is supposed to be my resume.
"Yes Janet. Tell me about yourself" One of the interviewer finally broke the silence with a question which feels difficult for anyone to answer in that situation.
about myself?
so....where do I start?
I smiled at them "I'm Janet Murray. Full name Janet Murray D'Souza. 24 Years old. Recently graduated and this is my first interview" I turned towards the female interviewer in front of me "And......I'm a single mother of a 5 years old child"
All looked at me confused. I know, that look on their faces.
"But me being a single mother would definitely not disturb my work which I can assure you. Even though this is my first job I've done few internships and I know that whatever work assigned to me, I'll give my two hundred percent" I clenched my fist as I started to get nervous from all those starings.
ofcourse I am nervous. it's my first time being in a silent room like this with people who are already trying to judge me.
"You....are a mother"
ok. so the old man didn't listen to the speech I gave after me saying I'm a mother. Great.
"Yes sir"
"5 years old kid?" The man who was in his mid thirty asked for which I gave a small nod
"what's your child's name Miss.Janet"
"Steve. Steve Murray" I smiled, proudly letting my son's name slip my lips.
The interview lady smiled closing the files in front of her.
"Your appointed"
Well.....that's totally opposite of what I imaged seconds back when she closed the file.
I looked at them.....Surprised and also....Confused.
Who would appoint after one question of asking about myself?
"I know your confused and surprised but.....We like the attitude and the boldness you have in you. You was geniune. Told us the fact. didn't lie to get the job so....We thought. someone like you would perfectly fit the role"
All I could do was.....Smile.
I loosened my stiff body and took a breath of relief
"We'll share you all the paper works through your mail. About your salary package, we'll discuss tomorrow with our boss. yeah?"
"Sure Ma'am"
"Great. We'll look forward to work with you Miss.Janet" She said handing me my resume and files.
I stood, picking the files with my sweaty hands
"Say Hi to Steve" The old man said with a smile
I nodded "Sure sir. Thank you"
Wow. Just Wow.
I never imaged I would pass my first interview just answering one question. I was way beyond happy. I'm glad and also excited to tell my mom that. I DID IT! I GOT A JOB!!
Gosh I'm hella excited. I can't wait to tell mom and Steve about this.
