DO THE SAME
There's this girl named Karah. She's a Filipina. She's soliciting for herself just to have enough money in expense for her fare to go to America to join the singing contest in one of the well known talent show there. But everytime she go door to door to ask for help,she received nothing but hurtful words. Like, she's a scam, a fraud, that she'll just use the money for gumbling, to drink in a bar or to smoke.
But what's good about her is that, she never gave up. She said to herself that she'll never give up her dreams just because 90 out of 100 people in the world told her negative thoughts about herself asking for help financially.
One day, there's a woman who approached her and asked politely, "Hello young girl. I heard that you're asking for financial assistance. What is it for?"
"It's for me to have enough fare for the singing contest in America. I really love to join and maybe, it's my first step towards my dream,you know, there's no harm to try. I believed that, the worst thing I could do is to just do nothing and forget my dreams. I don't want that, I'm dedicated enough to pursue my heart desires.", she answered the lady.
" Wow, what a dream! It's amazing! You know what? I think I can help you with that. I'm a businesswoman, my name is Lyndsay by the way. I was about to fly to America, but my meeting with the investors there got cancelled. So, would you mind if I'll give you my ticket? It's nonrefundable,so I can't use it anyway.",the lady said as she excitedly lend the ticket to Karah.
"You're not kidding,right? You would really, give this to me? For real!?",Karah ask Lyndsay with hesitation but with excitement as well.
" Yes! I'm serious. There you go! It's yours. You see? Years ago, I'm not as better as you think of me right now. No business, no home, no everything. I am more like of what you called, a beggar. Then one day, I thought of having a business where I can use my talent with. But I don't have any painting materials to use to. Like you, I decided to go through soliciting to people as my last option. At first, it doesn't went well. Everything was seemed so hard for me at that very point of my life. But there's this kind hearted woman who offered me a job. For me without any experiences and just graduated high school, it's already an exception for someone to give you an opportunity to have a job. I worked hard for me to be able to save enough for my painting materials. I went to her office and said thank you for everything and asked her if there's anything I can do to repay her. She didn't asked me anything in return, instead, she gave me this card, with these 3 words that says, DO THE SAME. After that conversation with her,I kept this card with me. Atlast now,I can say that I fulfilled my promise to her. You know what? You better keep this too. That's the only thing I'll ask you in return. Just, DO THE SAME.",Lyndsay heartfully shared the story to Karah.
Karah went home and can't wait to tell her Grandmother the good news.
"Grandma! I already have the ticket going to America! Finally, I can sing my heart out there!", she exclaimed.
" Oww,my dear grandchild. I'm so happy for you. Would you mind to tell me what happened? Where did you got that ticket? Ow,God bless the hand of that kind person.", her grandmother prayed.
"Grandma, you see, I met this lady named Lyndsay. He gave me this when she heard about my dreams. And guess what Grandma? She just gave it to me in kind and without making me pay for it! But, she gave me this card that says, DO THE SAME. She told me that this card came from a stranger who had helped her too years ago. So amazing!", Karah explained.
" Let me see that card.",grandma replied and wondered.
"Why are you smiling Grandma?", Karah innocently asked.
"She did it.", her grandma added.
" What do you mean?",Karah wondered.
"This card is from me. You see? I have many of this in my drawer. Come and see it for yourself.", Grandma explained as she opened her drawer for Karah to see the same cards on it.
" What a coincidence! Wow,I really can't believe this can happen Grandma. Now I know this is true, that the kindness you put into the world,will always find its way going back to you.",Karah amusedly said.
