The old man was walking by the canal with not a care in the world as he was no longer able to think clearly due to having dementia, people kept looking at him in a strange way as he was dressed in pyjamas and slippers on that hot summers day but nobody bothered to approach him as he shuffled along on his way.
His family had contacted the police and hospitals in a vain attempt while they searched for him in all of his favourite places.
He had walked undetected from the care home several hours earlier, it was only when his Son visited it was realised that he was missing.
The police drone buzzed by just as the old man stepped into the canal, his Son was racing along the canal as he knew it was a favourite place of his Dad's as they spent days fishing there before his Dad become ill.
Luckily a passerby jumped into the canal and pulled the old man out of the freezing water just as the old man's Son reached the spot.
The old man was unconscious but had a smile on his face, his Son vowed that he would look after his Dad for the rest of his days.
Unfortunately the old man didn't regain consciousness, he had found what he was searching for, his final resting place.
