Write a story based on this famous excerpt from Revival by Stephen King:

He unlocked a door and led me through an office that was empty of furniture, although I could still see square clean patches on the grimy linoleum, where the legs of a desk had once stood. On the wall was a curling calendar with April 1989 showing.

I could have sworn it was a dream because I slept in my one room apartment April 2021 but couldn't denied the reality of my five senses. "I was born in the 20th century how come I remember occurance before I was born or was I born in the 80's imagining my future in the 21th century." I thought

While I ruminated in my obvious confusion, the one who lead me through several entrance before we got to the office emptied of furnitures, he stopped, as a voice said with the deepest of a masculine tone "welcome to Stanza two".

"Stanza what?", I said without opening my mouth.
"Stanza two" he replied as though he could read my thoughts with a tone willling to be patient.
"And whatever happens or not happen on this day will clarify whether or not this is a time you were born in to order the future or a time you were summoned into to mend the past".

"??...(with my left eyebrow raised), what..." Was the expression I could come up with after my ears permitted the words to sink.
"The office you stand inside is a materialised form of the existence of stanza 2, and it is from here forward that other stanzas of time can be shaped into beauty or ashes" the voice continued "and the point of which creation can..." The longer he spoke the less interested I got and the less I could hear.

"Hey, Mr guide can you guide me back to where you brought me from" I said obviously not interested in the shenanigans, so I could be far away from the words of the crazy voice speaking.
"And where would that be" the guide asked not turning to look at me,

"I don't know, the, the, uhm the..". " Wait a second where was I when he came to guide me here, I can't seem to remember. All I can remember was the opening of the first entrance he took me through" I thought with my mind in worse state than it initially was.
"Sir", I said with my eyes covered with a layer tears been emotional by nature,"I remember I had a life and know I have lived somewhere, sometime but I can't remember any longer, please hel-hel-help me"

"All you need to is to listen, trust and obey this voice and hopefully you will return to your timeline" the guide said as he pointed my attention towards a certain direction
"Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully", I said individually, while nodding in disappointment as I looked gradually towards the direction he pointed.

"Before you lies two switches with this statement attached to them; The paths both weigh equally, the end not-reassuring. The purpose vague, your decision paramount. The world would be hurt in one and you would fine rest and the world would be restful in the other and you in hurt. The hurt is nothing other than enemies and regrets and the rest is a peaceful confidence. The world loves and cares for you in one but are quick to spear you as a result of the other. Your decision is neither right nor wrong but your heart desires one greater than the other. Let your heart be your instruction and your head the constitution" the voice ended and faded into silence.

Took a step forward then transfixed before the switches, swallowing had become difficult. My decision can destroy the future or mend the past, my choice can distrupt the past or align the future. Lifting up my hands to make a pick, looking now and again toward my guide searching his eye for the correct answer but his eye seem blank, void of answers. My heart raced faster and my cloth sucked as one dipped in water,
"Why would I be trusted with such a decision, why should the past or future make such drastic choice to choose me" I thought, "I am not fit for this"

"Somebody, please help me choose" my heart roared "You all would be dead if I choose"
"Whether they live or die is not as important as whether you choose or not" the voice broke my troubled state "you are not here by mistake"
Hearing those words of comfort only troubled me and increased the strain already upon my mind.
"You all would be dead!!!" I shouted expecting someone to respond and say to me "rest easy I have come to make your choice for you"

Hours passed, no one came, my guide still silently standing. With an already known realisation which I chose not to accept, I shut my eye and opened while taking a deep breath. I said to myself "whatever will become of my decision I will take full responsibility". I felt immediately calm and dive my hand towards one switch as oppose to the other and then...

There was silence

"What a long night", I said yawning and stretching. "Ouch, my head hurts" I continued leaning backwards in a melancholic way "What was I dreaming about?"

The year 1989 was a pivot year for man kind because, The World Wide Web was invented, The first GPS satellite went into orbit, even a 4,400-year-old mummy was discovered to mention a few in that same year.
