Division of the Loot
Five robbers broke into a house and managed to steal some gold jewellery and cash. Then they dashed out through the backdoor in a hurry when the owner returned home, dropping a few pieces on the way.
They ran helter skelter through the back lane when they heard dogs barking and a group of men chasing them. They took a shortcut across the town cemetery and hid amongst the bushes.
“Shhhh…,” said the leader when they heard some voices in the dark.

“One for you and one for me. Two for you and the big one for me,” the voice counted aloud.

The robbers were terrified and huddled together as ghostly shadows appeared on the wall.

“No, I want the big, fat one. You take the small ones,” the voice eeriely demanded. “Hurry up, I’m hungry.”

Coincidentally, the leader of the robbers was a big fat guy while the rest were smaller in size.

“They are coming to get us. We need to run.”
“But the whole neighbourhood is out there with their dogs.”
“It’s between the devil and the deep blue sea.”

Then they heard the voice saying “Put them down now.”

Not waiting to be eaten alive, the five robbers left their loot and vanished into the dark.

“Hmmm… delicious,” one of them said, licking his lips.
“Yeah… this one is fat and juicy,” the other one replied.
They put the rest into their pockets and climbed down from the mango tree. They ambled quietly out of the cemetery and headed home, feeling full and satisfied.
