MY MOTHER'S KOLO (PIGGY BANK)
It was an heavy shower from above,
The ground had a nice share of its bathe.
Wading in the wiggly mud,
Squishy-squash all o'er me,
The splash on momma vexed her,
Of it safe made two earthen balls.

I could feel these balls breathe
For they have a very small flat mouth
And a dark spacious stomach.
She took one and gave me the other,
Feed her with your money was what she told me.

Momma's kolo was getting fatter
Though we couldn't see it do
While mine was speaking the reverse by the day.

Time finally came for my mother's creation to give birth.
She raised her up to heaven as if to receive God's blessings
Then smashed her to the ground as if an offering to Lucifer.
Marching out of her belly is a great army of coins in their numbers.

I rushed to my room to bring out mine too,
I followed momma's tradition of this birthing process.
Alas! All I saw was just two silver coins.

Then momma told me, "My dear son,
Be like the ant that saves for the raining day.
A grain in the soil today can feed a nation tomorrow."
