WISDOM AND UNDERSTANDING
Wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge, experience, understanding, sense and insight.
Wisdom according to Proverb 4:7 says "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding."
There is a man in the scripture called Solomon, who understand the need for wisdom and understanding. According to 1Kings 3:9 "Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?"
I get to understand that, what make a wise man wiser that the wise is the level of understanding he has. And this is what birth fort the wisdom in him. There is alway a different when you see a man that has wisdom and understanding and a man that lack wisdom and understanding.
A man who has wisdom and understanding can quickly discern where a problem is coming from and get it solved.
Job 28.l:20 ask "Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?"
Do you know, you can get wisdom? But I tell you, wisdom can only be gotten from God. He is the source of wisdom. Job 12:13 - "But true wisdom and power are with God; counsel and understanding are his."
Checking from the very first beginning of the scripture till the end, God is the one that gave all men wisdom.
Let look at some bible passage where He gave men wisdom. Exodus 31:3 says "And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship," Exodus 35:31 - "And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;" 1Kings 3:28 - "And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment." With this, we get to know that wisdom can only be given by God.
But the question is, Job 15:8 "Were you listening at God's secret council? Do you have a monopoly on wisdom?" The bible says in James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." Men ask for wisdom and they received in abundance. 2 Chronicle 1:10 "Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?"
Wisdom and understanding has a lot of advantages that if we are to start mentioning them, writing them in a full book can not enough to contain them. You know God gave wisdom. So, it is continuous.
Know this that, every wisdom and understanding God gave a man is to liberate his generation and for God name to be glorified.
The bible say Proverb 1:7 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." Isaiah 33:6 "And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure." I get to understand that until you have the fear of God, wisdom will be far from you. When you obey every instructions of God, you begin to see how far He has been helping you to navigate through life with wisdom.
Wisdom do not just jump on you like they way power jump on people you watch in movie. It is a process that God make you go through. When a problem comes, you will be able to solve them because of the wisdom. Those are what help a man to shaping his wisdom.
Mind you, Proverb 2:7 says "He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly." So, until you are in God, the wisdom you think you have is still not wisdom.
So, until the spirit of God wisdom rest upon you, you can't access the wisdom of God. Isaiah 11:2 "And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;" Daniel 2:20 "Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:" Colossians 2:3 "In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." Ephesians 1:17 "That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:"
God is the only source of wisdom. Have God, have wisdom. When you have the spirit of God, you have God's wisdom. And you can only have access to the spirit of God through is son Jesus Christ.
