She looked at the courtyard below, the apparition was gone. Had it really been there at all? It was always the same. She would wake from the nightmare, walk to the window and stare into the darkness. There was nothing there now, just the usual landscape that she always saw durning daylight. She knew, however, that once dusk came darkness would follow. Then the horror would commence again. This time she would not go to sleep thus avoiding the recurring nightmare. And then what would she see? Nothing, because there was nothing there, as her doctor's said, it was all in her mind. Tonight she would prove to herself and everyone else that it wasn't just her imagination. They were all very skeptical.
