Chapter 3 - Quake Wake
As days go by, their love deepens. But everything was not going alright. So as she got a new job, and she was doing an excellent job, she was recommended to move to the home company to help them there. Her manager told her she must decide and let him know by the end of the day, else this opportunity will go to someone else.
So she told give at least a day, so she could discuss with her family, and he agreed to it. When she was logging out, Raul was waiting near their regular catch up place before they catch their metro back home. She didn't know how to start this conversation as this was the first time she was in a real relationship and within a short period she was leaving. Before she could say anything, he hugged her and said, do what is best for you. I will wait. Hearing this, she didn't know what to respond. She cried on his shoulders and went to have dinner before going back home.
The day came when she had to leave. She was half-hearted, but he already read her mind,she is also half-hearted, but this was a wonderful opportunity to enhance her career. But when she hugged him, she saw the future, she cried but didn't tell anything and left.
Every day, both of them called when they were free and talked everything that happened to them and laughed and enjoyed. This continued for 7 months, when there was an earthquake that destroyed most of the buildings of her area. Raul came to know this, only through news. He tried all possible ways to get in touch with Alina, but all the networks were off.
Panicked and worried, he tried the embassy for an update or if he could visit. But due to security reasons and so many people were contacting, he was put on waiting list.
Alina on other hand, was deep in the rubble of buildings on her. One of the iron pipes had pierced into her stomach and because of which lots of blood was oozing out. She tried to remove the pipe, but the pain was excruciating and she felt like Raul to be next to her at this time and rescue her now. Then she remembered, when she had hugged Raul, this was the future she saw, and she had already anticipated this, and if he was here, he would be dead, but now she knows that atleast he is safe. All her thoughts and her time with Raul flashed before her, and she smiled and gracefully closed her eyes in exhaustion.
Is this her end??
