Criminal Charge Part 1
A normal person would have put their gun on the ground and plead mercy when found surrounded by two dozen guards during a bank robbery. Hazel Sylvestar did the opposite.
"Put your gun down now!" a shrill voice startled me and I turned to find almost a dozen guns pointed at me .
"Why, hello there, boys," I drawled out, flipping my golden brown hair over my shoulder and focusing on the man that had yelled, my hand tightening across the gun I held loose by my side.
"What do you want?," I said annoyed. "You understand that I was just in the process of looting this safe?" I asked, ignoring the trigger clicks.
The black-haired man just scowled at me, his smoky gray eyes gazing into mines.
He would have been attractive if he wasn't my enemy.
"I said, put your gun down now," he threatened. "I can't promise that you will leave this place alive,"
"Oh, so now you're my assassin?" I scoffed. "Get a life," the comment was so old, I winced.
The man took a step forward and all without blinking an eye, shot a bullet at the ceiling. Behind them, screams started anew, for the people had thought that they were being shot. I took a deep breath. "I recommend you get out before you're going to be the one to not leave this place alive," I warned, my fingernails digging into my palm.
The man just smirked at me. "Last chance,", he taunted.
Without missing a beat, I pulled out two handguns, letting my other gun fall to the ground, and in a few seconds and a few bullets, everyone except the black haired man were consciousness.
The man cussed, backing one step away. "Who are you?" he now looked at me with some fear, his hands not daring to stray to the guns strapped to his side. His life was more i portant to him then his arrest. The gun that had been in his hand was now lying on the bloodied carpet and he carefully held his wounded right hand.
I chuckled as I turned back to face the safe. I had opened it just a few seconds before the men had interrupted me. Skipping my eyes over the gold bars, I grinned slowly. On a shelf at the far back wall, a small box was locked. It was hidden in the corner and I moved to grab it, placing it in my knapsack. Exiting, I strolled out, crouching next to the man who was now sitting against the wall, breathing heavily. He stared at me weakly and then spat on my face. "You godamn-"
I shot him in the neck, not letting him finish the sentence. Some men were just so annoying.
The people at the bank were now laying on the ground, looking at my gun in terror. My eyes skipped over them. An elderly man, a middle-aged woman...there. I walked over and grabbed a teenager from the bunch, dragging him by the ear. He instantly let out a whimper and started crying. A woman, no doubt his mother, started screaming.
"Please don't hurt him! Please! My son, my baby," she sobbed and crawled to me, her hands outstretched to the boy beside me. With a sign, I pointed the gun to the teenager's head and the woman instantly stopped, sobbing.
I had no intention of killing civilians. I didn't kill anyone. The guards had just been known out with tranquilizer darts. The gun wasn't even a gun but I liked messing with people.
I hovered my lips over the boys' ears. "Listen up, buddy. What's your name?" I whispered.
He was tense, trying to hold back tears.
"Micheal," he said quietly.
"Okay, Micheal. Here's the plan. I'm not going to kill you, but just take you hostage. We will go through this front door and there might be police. You will not run. Understand?" I warned him.
He nodded quickly. "Okay. As soon as we get to my car, I will let you go. Understand?"
He nodded again. "Do not go anywhere, but just put your hands in the air for the police to find you. Okay?",
He nodded again. "You won't kill me? Like you did to those guards?" he pointed out, swallowing.
"And if you looked closer, they would just be asleep and not dead,"
The boys face portrayed his disbelief and I didn't try to change his mind
"Okay. Please don't kill me," he mumbled and I grabbed him. His mother, unaware of our conversation, start screaming again.
"Don't hurt him, please!"
I shot her a glare and Micheal followed me, with my hand clasped tightly to his shoulder, to the back door of the bank. The knapsack bounced along my shoulder blades.
As soon as I exited the door, guns were trained on me.
"Now, do we need to do this?" I said, placing a hand on the hip. "I have a boy here and I'm sure it would be such a sadness to kill him," I pouted mockingly but then smiled sweetly.
"I'll let the boy go on one condition. I'm sure you know what it is,"
I didn't know if it was possible to save myself since I knew the FBI had trained a wanted on me, and the loss of innocents would be accepted.
I didn't want to drug Micheal.
The lead man bit his lip. I brightened. He was obviously a man who didn't want the guilt of a lost life. This was so much easier than I expected.
He looked very handsome with amber hair and bright green eyes and it would indeed be a shame to kill him, too.
I always keep a real gun in my pocket just in case.
"So?" I said patiently.
The man flicked a finger and all guns were dropped.
"As long as you drop that gun too," he warned.
I dropped the stun gun on the concrete. "Okay. So I'll be heading on to my car. You stay right here or this boy isn't returning to you alive"
Micheal stifled a shriek.
The man, with a woman glaring at me beside him, tried to smile. He probably knew I had a other gun up my sleeve or else he would have killed me already after I dropped the stun gun.
"I'm Eric," he offered.
I think this was some new attempt to befriend me.
"Hi Eric, I'm your worst nightmare," I said cooly.
His smile dropped. "Hazel. The most wanted criminal in the city. And working for the Ravens,"
Yes, yes, and yes. This pampered boy had done his research.
"Uh-huh. Quit stalking. Not a finger should move in my direction,"
With a tight nod from Eric , I gave him a grin and pushed Micheal through the hoard of glaring soldiers, all gripping their guns. "We'll manage to capture you one day, you know. You should lessen your charges before then," Eric called out.
I laughed. "In your dreams," I answered back and pushed Micheal out of the parking lot.
"Where's your car," he asked breathlessly, trying to inch farther from the gun beneath my blazer.
I squeezed his neck softly. "No questions," I ordered and marched him to a black, armored car. Letting go of him, I pushed him to to the concrete, his hands flat on the ground.
"Stay here for five minutes. I'm sure you can count. Then, get up and go wherever" I ordered him again. To hell with him waiting for the police.
When he nodded, I quickly slid into the front seat of the car, thankful for the purring engine and gunned off, ignoring the honks of New York City cars.
I reached to the backseat where a burner phone lay and flipped it open.
Dialing a number, I waited for it to pick up.
"Liam Oliver speaking" a quiet, male voice said.
I veered to avoid a bus. "Hazel Sylvestar speaking. The package is contained. No victims. FBI managed to get on my trail, though," I gave the barest of information.
A tiny sigh escaped Liam. "FBI? Can't have that here, Hazel. Lose them. Or else," he threatened.
I smirked as another black car veered toward me, a man with dark eyes trained on me.
"You got it, boss," I said with a smile and hung up. Liam hated it when I called him "boss"
I fixed the rear view mirror to see not two, but three black cars racing after me. This was going to be fun.
I twisted the wheel to the right, careening to the nearest entrance to the highway where I could potentially lose them.
I dialed another number, drumming my fingers on the wheel as the car reached 100 miles per hour.
Fun.
"Cass? It's me, Hazel. Need a favor. Can you draw the bridge again? Got some people to lose behind," I muttered to the phone and Cass's usual reply rang out.
"The FBI really be hunting for you," and she giggled. The line beeped as I was put on hold.
One black car pulled up besides me and I turned to see the same green eyed man grinning at me.
I scowled at him and flipped him off before ramming my side of the car to his, forcing me to brake before he hits a car.
"All ready, sweetheart. It's pulling up now. A foot per second," Cass said, blowing a bubble by the sound of a pop. Her fake nails clicked-clacked on the computer. "You only have a minute, Haze," she informed me before hanging up.
I cursed and dialed another number again.
"Thomas, need that jetski in a minute. Stand by the same position we agreed on. Mask on, engine on, guns off. We don't need a battle here," I warned and his throaty chuckle made me roll my eyes.
"As you say, babe," he said huskily.
"Again, for the thousandth time, I am not your babe," I growled and hung up before I needed to endure another one of his remarks.
My car beeped rapidly and I glanced up just in time to see a car ram me up from behind and my head flipped, the sack flying. I gritted my teeth, shaking off the cobwebs from my head, and raced off, adding more speed.
The bridge was just ahead so I took an exit and drove straight. I could already see the rising bridge and a flash of white blinded me for a second.
The jetski.
I grabbed the knapsack and my black mask went over my face, hiding it from view.
My beauty was an asset but not right now.
I could see two FBI cars slowing down but the one that was driven by the amber haired man was still gunning toward me.
"Run, run, I'm the gingerbread man!" I sung off-key and the bridge rose high above me.
I started heading uphill and at the right moment, with clear clarity, I pushed the "eject" button right next to me.
I was only airborne for a second, the car underneath me, when I jumped over the first part of the bridge and slicing into the clear water. My car fell a few feet away and I was almost sucked into the water if not for the firm grip on my hand. I came up, sputtering water, and Thomas pulled me up into the jetski with a stifled laugh.
"Knew you'd need me," he mouthed off and I said nothing, only shivering and hanging on tight to him.
The jetsky spewed water as it turned towards the bay but I looked over one last time to see the amber haired man floating in the water. He had also jumped after me.
I blew him a kiss before turning back.
I didn't need him or anybody else.
I only needed myself to survive.
