The Secret of the Cabin by the Lake
The car sped through the pitch-black night, its headlights flashing to warn oncoming traffic. Inside, Julia, her heart pounding, gripped the steering wheel with all her strength. She cast anxious glances in the rearview mirror, scanning the headlights of the cars following her. It was crucial that she outdistance them, that she reach the old cabin by the lake before they did.

The radio crackled with the evening news, but Julia no longer paid attention. Only her thoughts swirled in her head: why had they chosen her? What did they really want? It had all started so innocuously, a simple package left at her door, with no sender. But inside, a key and a note: "Trust no one. Go to the cabin."

A shadow crossed the road in front of her, probably a deer. She braked sharply, narrowly avoiding the animal. With her breath coming in gasps, she resumed her journey. The city lights were far behind her, and only darkness now enveloped her path. She still had a few kilometers to go.

When she finally saw the lake shimmering under the moonlight, a feeling of relief washed over her. But it was short-lived. As she approached the cabin, she saw a figure waiting on the threshold, motionless. Julia parked the car, and, heart racing, cautiously advanced. The figure stepped forward, revealing a familiar face, that of her brother whom she had thought disappeared years ago.
