The Bards of Malerkotla- 2
Lend me your eyes and minds, o people,
As I ring in a story so true!
Passed down unto generations-by the bards,
A story wondrous and sublime
When the heavens rained fire and the earth spewed blood,
In the maddening chaos and carnage,
The light of peace and brotherhood shone brightly in Malerkotla!!!
Blessed by the Guru, revered by all,

Legend has it that when the two sons of the Guru, Fateh Singh, six years old and Zorawar Singh of eight years, were being walled up alive, the lone voice of protest was that of the Nawab of Malerkotla, Sher Mohammed. Guru Gobind Singh was so moved by this gesture that he is said to have showered honour and glory upon the Nawab, " his roots shall remain forever green".
No invasion or dissension has ever since, dared to disturb the peace of Malerkotla.
