The purple moon
Life they say is full of challenges, both good and bad, but I have only experienced the bad side of life.
Life as a teenager has not been the best so far, there are no roses, no butterflies in your stomach, there are no instances where you lie down on the beach with your partner after a romantic evening full of drinking and sex.
Love is a word that has no meaning for me, I have heard tales about how love brings people together, how one feels butterflies in one's stomach just because of love.
But hell no!!
Let's snap back into reality.
This all started when I was in my teenage years, 16 to be precise. I have always admire how my mom and Dad loved each other so much, but there is more that meets the eye.
After returning from school I was so tired and decided to lay low and not disturb my parents. I went into my room freshen up and stood in-front of my mirror. I always liked looking at my reflection in the mirror, admiring my long red hair, my big bright green eyes and my thick shaped body.I have always wondered why I have no resemblance to my parents, whenever I ask I always get one answer from them which is I looked like my late great grandmother whom I've never seen before. Lost in my thoughts , suddenly I heard a loud noice that jolted me back to reality. What was that? I asked myself. I decided to go to the dining room because that was where the noise came from. Immediately I run downstairs and saw my mom and Dad quarrelling, I could never believe my eyes, is what am seeing true or just a pigment of my imagination? I closed my eyes and pinch myself hard, I slowly opened my eyes and realised this was my reality.
My once perfect world crumbling in front of my eyes, sobbing and crying I ran upstairs to my room locked myself up and cried myself to sleep.........

NEXT DAY

The next day which was a Saturday, my mom called me downstairs for breakfast, she prepared my favourite meal which was a pepperoni pizza with a pineapple topping, I knew very well that something was wrong because anytime my mom does such things she needed to tell me something important.
Mom: Darling, how are you? Hope you had a good night sleep?
Irisie: Goodnight sleep? She must be kidding I murmured to myself.
Mom: what was that darling?
Irisie: nothing mom, I slept well last night
Mom: That's good dear, I don't know how to tell you this but your father and I are getting divorced
Irisie: I choked on the food l had in my mouth.  Mastering up courage I finally asked her why they needed to separate?
Mom: you are too young to understand but this is what's best for our family. I hope you understand darling?
I was so angry that I threw my fork away and left the table. I heard my mom calling out to me but I was too angry to respond after what just happened.
Weeks past by and despite my efforts to stop my parents from parting ways they did anyways.
My mom won my custody and my dad won the custody of our dog. No child could ever believe that their own father will choose a dog over them.
A month after the divorce settlement  my mother and I moved out of the house to a new town, which was on the outskirts of the city. Which means I had to start of in a new school and make new friends which was going to be very hard for me since I am an introvert. And the last time I heard of my father was when I overheard my mom discussing with one of her friends of him moving to a new apartment with his mistress.......

FITST DAY OF SCHOOL1

It was evening I decided to go sightseeing but I can feel something following me. What is it? It started running after me, it's a dog, a very big dog. It's getting closer, closer, closer.
Jesus, I snapped and woke up gasping loudly, out of breath it was a nightmare, thanks heavens.
I decided to freshen up and get ready since today is the first day of school.
I freshened up, tied my hair in buns, put a light make up on. And for clothes I decided to wear a taint top with my baggy favourite jeans.
Irisie, my mom yelled out to me.
You will be late for school she exclaimed.
I hurriedly went down the creaking stair case and headed for the living room.
I saw my mom patiently standing by the door waiting patiently for me.
Mom: what took you so long darling?
Irisie: nothing mom
Mom: okay let's get going or you will be late for your first day of school,

We hurriedly left and took a public transport since my dad owned the car we used, he took it after the divorce settlement. 30minutes later I was right in-front of New Orleans high school. A shiver immediately run down my spine.
Mom: Darling we are finally here, the school is more beautiful than I imagined
Irisie: Yh, right I said with a smirk
I bid goodbye to my mom and got down from the bus and headed straight into the school.
As I walked through the hallway I could feel eyes staring at me, at this moment I just wished the earth will open up and...
