A Cold Night

The cry was faint but I heardit loud and clear as I walked past the dark bushes. My steps faltered. It was late and I wasn’t sure if it was a smart thing to stop and inspect the source of the silent but persistent noise, coming from the football field.
It was a cold, dark night, the persistent faint cry made me clench my study books tightly..and for a moment...I stopped in my tracks confused and a bit scared.
"I knew I shouldn't have stayed late at the library" I thought to myself...
My colleagues long gone...but I stayed to cover a few topics for our midsemester exam...a decision I later had come to regret.
