Blood Wars (Prt.2)
I suppose should start from the moment we landed...
The night sky was blotted out by clouds, giving us no light aside from the armored vehicles that had been assigned to transport us, fully equipped with .50s load with armor piercing rounds. The base CO came over to greet use, then after a brief conversation with Gregor, he ordered us to all load up and to stay alert since the vamps have been active tonight which again made me feel very anxious and a bit worried but I chalked it up to nerves and strapped into next to one of Anya's team mates who inquired about her condition.
"She's a little banged up and will be there for two weeks before she's discharged, but the doctors are positive she'll be fine for active duty after some PT", I replied.
"Good. She's a fine soldier", the man replied with a smile.
One of the SEALs, a mountain of a man nicknamed "Rhino" learned forward to talk to me.
"My sister, Sarah, said your a bit of a badass when it comes to killing these things. That true?", he asked calmly.
"I personally don't think so, but I'll take what I can get", I replied.
"Your alright kid", he stated with a hearty chuckle.
The rest of the ride was pretty uneventful and light hearted until we entered a heavily wooded area, and suddenly multiple thermal signatures popped up on our radars about two-hundred yards from the vehicle but none got close, yet.
"Eyes up, we got dots", Gregor said calmly into his mic.
We all checked our safeties, then sat in silence as the vehicles chugged along the road, when suddenly there was the sound of rushing wend then something smashed into the side of the vehicle I was in, launching us off to the right. The vehicle slammed into a thick tree, and my door dented inwards at least five inches.
Our machine gunners opened up as a massive red dot circled around us, followed by hundreds of smaller ones rushed in from every direction.
It was an ambush.
We all unloaded and emmediatly began engaging the hord as hundreds of camps ran from the tree lines and the road ahead of us and behind us.
"We have to turn ba-", Gregor started before being tackled by a vamp who promptly bit out his throat. I instantly turned, shot the vamp, then pointed my gun at him and said, "Sorry sir", before blowing his brains out to keep him from turning. Now down a man, we pressed forward, trying like hell to push them back, when yet another massive, flying vampire landed, grand two Delta Force operatives crushed them with a tree trunk it was using as a club.
"Light that bitch up!", I screamed at our machine gunners before pulling my pistol and knife since I was out of magazines for my AR-15.
They did as instructed and quickly brought the beast down, but in response to this the remaining vamps turned feral, basically attacking us and each other now which tends to happen when you kill the leader of the hord.
Out of two hundred men and women, only twenty-eight were left.
"We need to go!", Sarah ordered over the COMs since she was now the highest ranking official here.
"You guys go! Someone has to die tonight", Rhino yelled before her, me, and the injured who had only been torn up but not bitten turned tail and ran back to base as best we could. We heard approaching foot steps, to fast to be human, so I spun around...
