7 Terrifying Japanese urban Legends
The Red Room Curse

The story centers on the idea that a cursed pop-up will appear on a random victim's computer. The pop-up is just an image of a door, and a recorded voice will ask, 'Do you like the red room?' The pop-up will continue to appear until the voice can finish its question, even if it is closed. Those who see the pop-up are later found dead, the walls painted red with their own blood. This story began as a flash animation short about a boy who was cursed and died after seeing the pop-up.

Okiku Doll

Supposedly purchased by a young boy in 1918 as a souvenir for his 2-year-old sister, Okiku. The doll now resides at the Mannenji temple in the town of Iwamizawa since 1938. Legend has it that Okiku loved the doll and spent all her time with it until she died the year after due to illness. Her soul now is said to haunt the doll and ownership of the doll comes with serious consequences. People still claim that the hair of the doll continues to grow even after being cut.

Teke Teke.

She was a beautiful girl, who was too shy though. She was scared to talk to others. Her friends often troubled her, taking advantage of her shyness. One day, some of her friends grabbed her and threw her on a railway track just for fun, and left the poor girl screaming in pain behind. A train came speeding on the railway track. Unfortunately, the girl's leg was trapped and she could not move. The train ran past her, leaving her half body cut. She screamed and moaned and cried for help, but no one seemed to hear her. She was there, alive for a long time, and finally died. From that day, people believe that she lives in a bungalow, and walks on her hands, and if anyone goes near her, she asks them, "Where are my legs?" Because of this, people have named her by the name: Teke Teke.

Tomino's Poem

The popular Japanese story is about a poem called Tomino's Hell. They say that you should only read with your mind, and never out loud. If you were to read it out loud, then you die. This story used to be very popular on the internet, and there were many people taking pictures and videos as proof and posting them. There were many users that said that nothing happened, but there were also many posts that didn't have the user come back to post the results.

Aka Manto, the man in the Red Cape.

Well, my best friend told me this terrifying legend. It might sound absurd, but many people often experience it. A man in a red hood, who wears a mask appears in a red cape in school toilets, and men public toilets in some cases. He holds papers- red and blue, or he holds one red and one blue cape in some versions of this legend. He asks people "Aka or Aao?" That means 'red' or 'blue'? If we answer 'red', he cuts our skin all over our body, so that we appear as we are wearing a red cloak. If we answer 'blue', he grabs our neck and blocks it so that our body turns blue and it appears like we are wearing a blue cloak. So, it's better to ignore, run away, or reject both of the colours. But if you answer by the name of another colour, beware: you might be killed...

Hachishaku-Sama

The sound that informs people that Eight Feet Tall is nearby.

Eight Feet Tall (Hachishakusama, also informally called Hasshakusama) is a Japanese demon that takes the form of an impossibly tall female specter often said to have a deep, masculine voice in which she repeats interjection "Po" [ぽ] repeatedly, and a habit of preying on children. Hachishaku-Sama can vary from a withered hag or an attractive woman, yet is always inhuman in terms of height. While her appearance varies between accounts, most eyewitnesses have stated that she dressed in a white summer dress and the wide-brimmed hat. Hachishaku-Sama attacks children and does not bother with adult prey. This is said to be due to the fact children are still dependent on older family members, which she can mimic in order to lure her victims away.

Kuckisake Onna

She is one of the most terrifying legends marked in the minds of people. According to popular legend, she asks potential victims if they think she is attractive. If they respond with "no", she will kill them with her weapon. If they say "yes", she will reveal that the corners of her mouth slit from ear to ear, and she will then repeat her question. If the individual responds with "no", she will kill them with her weapon, and if they say "yes", she will cut the corners of their mouth in such a way that resembles her own disfigurement. Methods that can be used to survive an encounter with Kuchisake-onna include answering her question by describing her appearance as "average", or by distracting her with money or saying 'yes no yes no yes no'.
