THE COMPARISON
Throughout the life of every human being exist the desire to compare ones achievements with that of another. Right from the stage of of conception to the time a woman gives birth to a child the world critically sets up system and procedures where by one child can be compared to another. So what we realise at birth is the expectation that, the new born baby is healthy and sound. If another is born prematured we take it as a premise to analyse the state of health of the child immediately or in the near future.

In some parts of the globe children are expected to cry the moment they are born. Sometime ago the absence of this signifiers the presence of some abnormality. Later in life this could become part of the child's story. Then comes the various growth stages in life. We will look forward to who is bigger than the other, stronger than the other, who falls ill and those that hardly experience any form of illness. The height of this comparison is who has made it in life or who has been more successful than the other. Humanity tries to make a better place by downplaying the essence of comparison but the evidence is almost always more glaring and cannot be hidden.

If the eyes fails to see it coming, the ears cannot avoid listening and if the mouth fails to speak, the body language cannot be hidden. Such is the desire for the human mind to compare that without control it inevitably draws more negative energy to oneself than usual. For those who loose control eventually, not only do they loose themselves alongside they tend to get lost in the present too as their supposed competitors keeps succeeding without looking back whilst they keep reminiscing in the past so as harness some satisfaction.

In the hindsight the people they keep comparing themselves too, perhaps are not paying attention and if they were to humbly seek a helping hand, they could have been more satisfied. Such is the canker associated with uncontrolled comparison that makes the evil in it manifest in people who can't harness its positivity. To compare is not all bad as most businesses do this periodically to stay abreast with current trends in the market. However comparing without control could also serve as a dream killer and mostly leaves its victims without any form of innovation.

You will in such circumstances always strive to know what your competitor is up to instead of delving deep into your conscious and unconscious mind to discover the unlimited imaginative potentials of your being. To borrow the words of Steve Jobs in his dilemma concerning the numerous imitations of his product "he will always refer to those who copy as bozo". In other words why copy when you are as gifted as the other individual.

Perhaps when we come to the understanding that in the global atmosphere, there is nothing as the same but there will always be creativity and innovation. These two will always stand out when pairs of organisations, institutions and individuals are critically analysed and some conclusions made. The big brands in the market and for that matter companies that have stood the test of time all embody these immeasurable traits. Likewise many industries wouldn't see the light of day because they lack these qualities. It wasn't that they couldn't compare wisely, it is a true indication that aside comparing achievements of individuals there are other demands as well.

We will go through life making and resisting the temptation to compare but yet when we get to the shelves or in deciding which schools to choose for our kids, this same invincible emotion surges out. Here however we can draw the positivity to justify our course. When the urge to compare so as to gain superiority over another individual emerges, it should be nibbed in the bud, so as to keep that which is innovative and imaginative alive and kicking in the minds of individuals.
