BENNY THE STINK BUG BY: JOSEPH MATTHEW BALLINGER (CHILDREN STORY) (12-31-2023)
In the middle of a great big forest full of glorious birds and furry four legged creatures lurks a loveable caring insect named Benny. Benny is Stick Bug. Being a Stick Bug, no one was very fond of Benny. As Benny the Stick Bug stayed inside he little mud hut, everyone was outside laughing and talking about Benny. Even though Benny the Stick Bug could not hear them, Benny knew that they all was talking about him behind his back that made him oh so sad.

One fine day as Benny the Stick Bug was joyfully walking down the lane, a whole group of Fire Ants ran in fear. So heartbroken, Benny the Stick Bug flew away. As Benny the Stick Bug flew off, all the insects came outside to celebrate not for Benny the Stick Bug leaving, but for the gang of mean Fire Ants leaving. Everyone felt bad for Benny the Stick Bug flying off. If only if there was a way that they could take it all back.

As Benny the Stick Bug finely found a place to rest his wings, a black and yellow Black Widow Spider slowly crawled up beside Benny the Stick Bug. "Hello, my good friend. Having a good day," asked the glorious black and yellow Black Widow Spider. As Benny the Stick Bug looked deep into the black and yellow Black Widow Spider's eyes, the black and yellow Black Widow Spider said, "My name is Terri." While Benny the Stick Bug was getting hypnotized, Terri the Black Widow was preparing for her fest.

When Terri the Black Widow looked deep into Benny the Stick Bug's eyes, Terri the Black Widow knew that she could not eat Benny the Stick Bug. For if Terri the Black Widow did, Terri the Black Widow would be eating a friend. Terri the Black Widow turned Benny the Stick Bug also from her spell and said, "Go Benny and run free! I can not eat my one true friend." With a smile, Benny the Stick Bug gracefully flew back to his home village.

As Benny the Stick Bug was flying over his home town, all the insects cheered for joy. "Thank goodness your back, Boy. Before you left, the whole town was going to come outside and thank you for running off those mean Fire Ants," Mayor Ladybug cheerfully said. With a tear in Benny the Stick Bug's eyes, he knew he was loved. "You insects really are my friends," cheerfully y'alled Benny the Stick Bug to himself. THE END
