CHAPTER 2:NEW YORK.

The city that never sleeps.
I am tired so tired to even look out of the window and admire the beauty of the city,I just want to rest,it's on Friday so I have the weekend to settle in before my first day at work.
"Its not that big and in case you need anything I'm available"I turn to look at arshley only to realize that she had been talking the entire time,"I don't mind really,"I tell her with a broad smile😊.
"I like you already,"she hits my shoulder gently in a playful manner.
"Yeah,me too".
"This is us,"she says as the taxi driver pulls up a quiet street,the name is not quite visible and to be honest I really don't care about the street I live in right now,we step out of the car and she helps me with my bags.
We head up a narrow white corridor that leads us to the elevator,the ride up the elevator is quite short considering the fact that our room is on the second floor.
"Wow😲" is all I could say,the room is quite big and so beautiful well compared to the room I had in mind,I really did not expect this.
I am interupted by Ash tapping my shoulders lightly,"damn girl,where your brains at?"
"Sorry,just surprised with how beautiful the room is"
"Our room",she says with giggle🤭."well you'll use the closet on the right and take the bed close to the window,I figured since it's your first time here you'll probably be starring out of the window for quite some time,"I look at her and smile slightly☺️, "yeah,probably."
I take off my shoes and lay on the bed.
The sound of loud music in the background is what wakes me up,Ash is not in the room and I get up and head for the bathroom,I really need to take a shower but I haven't done any shopping yet,I see a shower gel with a note on it written use this,she basically knew I would be stranded,I pick the shower gel and turn on the shower,it smells like roses just the perfect scent to start your day with.
As I get out of the bathroom,arshely is at the kitchen counter slicing pineapples,you got up early,"you should really be in bed,that was a long flight,"I dint even look at the time when I got up,"I couldn't sleep, really I was feeling all sweaty I needed a shower,"I put on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt,I walk to wards the kitchen and sit on a stool across arshley."we really need to go for shopping,I couldn't buy anything because I dint know what you like actually,just bought some bread,eggs,milk and sausages unless you are alergic then we have to go out for breakfast,"she hands me over a bowl full of sliced pineapples,"no I take all that😅,"
She looks at me for a while then Let's out a big heavy laugh.we both laugh at the thought of me being alergic to everything she likes.
She turns around and cooks two eggs,"no way,I'm not eating that,"I say looking at the half cooked egg with it's yolk on top on a plate at the kitchen counter,she looks at me surprised 😲 stays silent for a while then finally asks"so how do you like your eggs my African princess?"it sounded funny and I end up laughing at her instead of answering her sarcastic question.
I hop off the chair and walk towards her"I'll do it".
After having breakfast and getting to know each other for nearly 4 hours,we then decide that we should go for lunch out instead of cooking since we both have a different view on what we should cook.
I put on a bra and some sneekers and we head out for lunch and shopping.
We head out to lunch first and we decide on maggy's pizza shop.
We have to drive for about 20 minutes to get to the mall,"I dont think I'll get a car anytime soon,"
"Relax girl this is new York,people don't need cars,"
"Then why do you have one?"I ask looking at her through the side mirror.
"We'll, I really don't know,but I do like driving myself instead of using those over used and stuffed trains,"she has a smirk on her face and I can't help but roll my eyes.
It's around 4pm and by the look of things we will be shopping for quite sometime.
We decide on getting the essentials first,I take out a list that we prepared during lunch and we walk towards the mall.
There is actually nothing different with malls here and I restrain on buying things because I haven't quite mastered how the dollar currency works I don't know if a five dollar shirt is expensive or not all I know is it is equivalent to a 500ksh shirt that I would not buy with my own money back at home when I could get a 20 shilling shirt in gikomba.
We buy the essentials we need for the house,some snacks and we also buy some groceries,I am shocked to see a packet of maize floor on the shelf at the supermarket and I decide on buying it despite arshleys attempt to explain to me how expensive it is.
By the time we get home it is already 8pm and I am hungry and tired good this is we ordered food on our way back and the deliveries wount take long,yes I said deliveries because arshley wanted to take soucci and I hate it,so I decided on my favourite, pizza with pinaple toppings
We decide on watching a movie.
