The Tower, Chapter 14
Chapter 14,

"What the fuck?" TJ said, her voice barely above a whisper. I yanked my hand out of Stephanie's pants and wiped it off on her shirt.

I turned toward TJ and buttoned my pants back up. "I-" I began, ready to explain that this was all just a misunderstanding but was interrupted. "I think I should go," Stephanie said behind me, giving TJ a wink before leaving.

TJ just stared at me blankly. I sighed and thought back to what had happened. Shit. Did I just fuck a whore? Ugh. I'm never gonna live this down.

Damnit TJ, can't you show even a little emotion on your face so I know what you are feeling? "I'm sorry. It just happened and I-" I began, ready to apologize profusely when she held her hand up.

"Sorry for what? It's not like she and I were together, I just slept with her once, that's all. You're a grown-ass woman Farah, you're free to fuck whomever you want." TJ replied, her stare still blank.

I gulped. She's right. Why was I apologizing? I nodded. I fixed my hair and said, "Uh, um, we should get going. We don't want to be late." She nodded. "Are we meeting the mayor at the mayor's office or is the mayor meeting us here?" She asked.

I shook my head. "I don't know, I guess we'll just walk to the mayor's office and find out," I replied. We left the room, locking the door behind us. We got in the elevator and I tucked my knife under my shirt so it was concealed.

"Do you think you're going to need to use that?" TJ asked, looking at where my knife was hidden. I shook my head. "I hope not," I told her truthfully. The elevator dinged and we stepped out into the lobby. I was surprised to see a tall guy, probably only five inches taller than me at around six foot two, with blonde hair and blue eyes that were almost as ice-like as mine. Almost.

He wore a three-piece navy blue suit with a white button-down and a black tie. His hair was slicked back and you could see his muscles through the suit. My eye twitched. I don't like this guy. "Are you two the ones who helped save the community from the infected?" He asked.

My eye twitched again. Of course, he has a British accent. Why wouldn't he? "Yes, we are," I replied. He nodded with a smile and held out his hand. "I'm Arthur Sanders. It's a pleasure to meet you." He said when I shook his hand. I nodded.

"I'm Farah." I replied. "Any last name?" He asked. I shook my head. "I have one. I just don't intend to tell you." I replied. He nodded but still looked slightly confused. "And you?" Arthur asked TJ, extending his hand to her.

"I'm TJ, it's nice to meet you as well." She told him with a smile. He nodded, smiling right back at her. My eye twitched again. I would much prefer if he didn't smile at her. In fact, I would rather he not look at her at all. Or even be in her general vicinity.

"Well ladies, how would you feel about accompanying me to the restaurant across town?" He asked. "Actually, we-" I began but TJ cut me off. "We'd love to." TJ replied. I gave her a pointed look and she glared at me. I looked at her, taken aback.

"Great, there's a limo waiting out front." He said. TJ nodded. "Perfect, let's go." TJ said. I sighed. Shit. I follow the two out the door. Arthur opened the door to the limo and my heart dropped. Inside was the last person I expected to see. My jaw dropped.

"Stephanie?" TJ spoke, her voice filled with surprise. "Hey TJ, hey Farah." Stephanie purred. I grimaced. Why the hell is she here? "Ah, I see you two have met my fiancèe. Since there seems to be no need for introductions, let's be on our way." Arthur said.

My eyes widened. After a moment, I burst out laughing and TJ glared at me. After a few moments, I stopped laughing and took a deep breath and looked at Arthur. "Hey dude, I feel like it's important for you to know that both TJ and I have slept with you fianceè." I said then started laughing hysterically again.

After a moment, my laughter faded again and I looked up to see Arthur smiling. "Yes, she already told me. You see, Stephanie and I are in an open relationship. We love each other greatly, but we also enough love in our hearts to share it with more than just one person." He said.

He shot TJ a wink and I scowled. My eye twitched. I clenched and unclenched my fists repeatedly. Just you wait Arthur. Let's see if you can wink when I give you a black eye. Better yet, I'll just gouge your eyes out. Then you can't even look at her.

"Get in here, Farah. I'm lonely." Stephanie pouted from inside the limo. My eyes quickly flitted to TJ. She looked uncomfortable. Good. The only reason we're going on this damn trip is because of her. She should feel just as uncomfortable as me. "Coming." I replied.

I crawled inside the limo and sat in the seat beside Stephanie. She immediately placed her arm around my shoulders and a quick glance towards TJ revealed that she looked somewhat irritated. Good. Be irritated.

Suddenly, a hand pulled my chin and Stephanie's lips were on mine. My eyes widened in surprised. After a moment, she pulled away. She smirked at me. "Pay attention to me gorgeous, not your friend." She whispered.

I rolled my eyes. "I'd rather look at her than kiss you." I replied in a whisper. She smirked again. "I know. TJ, however, doesn't seem to be aware of that. In fact, she looks like she's fuming." She whispered.

Her lips now an inch away from my ear as I turned my head towards TJ and noticed Stephanie was right. TJ and Arthur were still talking but TJ's hands were clenched into right fists and her eyebrows were scrunched together.

She looked like it was taking everything out of her not to punch something. "She looks sexy when she's angry, doesn't she?" Stephanie whispered, her lips on the top of my ear and her breath sending shivers down my spine.

This lady is a professional seductress. I'd be impressed if she hadn't already seduced me once and was currently trying to do so again. Finally, Arthur and TJ got in the car after finishing whatever conversation they had been having and Arthur smiled back at me.

"Looks like you and Steph get along quite well. Perhaps you'd like to go home with Steph and I tonight?" He asked. TJ's eyes glared holes through my as I avoided her gaze and looked at Arthur.

"Unfortunately, I need a full night's rest for the expedition tomorrow." I replied. He nodded. "Alrighty then. I suppose your right. Stephanie and I will also be going on the expedition." He said. My eyes widened.

"Wait, aren't you the mayor? Shouldn't you stay here?" I asked. He sighed. "I'm only nineteen, I'm hardly fit to run a town. Not to mention, a lot of people who had signed up for the expedition either died or chickened out. Only us four, two other girls, and a guy are left. The seven of us will be entering the tower alone." He replied.

I nodded. Shit. Shit, shit shit! "Ah, we've arrived." He said as the limo pulled to a stop in front of a restaurant. Both he and Stephanie are going to enter the tower with TJ and I? Fuck.

I opened my door and stepped out onto the sidewalk, Steph right behind me. "Shall we go in?" He asked us. I nodded with a sigh. "Yup." TJ replied.

We walked through the doors and approached a counter. "I have a reservation for Arthur." Arthur told the man at the counter. The man nodded. "Right this way, Mr. Mayor."

The man replied and gestured for us to follow him. We followed him to a small, private room in the back. "Here you are. Just as requested, we gave you the private room." The man said.

Arthur gave him a nod and a smile. "Thank you." Arthur said. The man nodded. "Your waiter will be with you soon. Your menus are on the table." He replied before walking away and closing the door to our room behind him. I grabbed a menu.

Multiple items were marked off with a sharpie. After a few minutes of silence as we all looked over the menu, the door to the room opened again. "Hello, I'm your waiter for this evening. My name is Mike." A familiar voice said. I froze. Fuck.
