There were no signs which make me feel Mark was lying. But I can never be sure about that. According to Edward, Jessica's husband Mark Carter is the killer. According to Mark Carter, Thomas Owen is the criminal.
This case was leading nowhere. It was time to meet the mother of Thomas Owen. I have to see what evidence she has, which made Mr David to restart the investigation.
Next morning I went to visit her. She was old, somewhere around 60-70 I guess. She offered me tea and I asked her what she knew about this case.
“Thank you Mr Lenoir for working on this again. You don't know how hard it was for me to gather the evidence.”
“Can you show me that?”
She brought an old file and gave it to me to read. She started explaining, “My son was stupid falling for a married woman. But he really did not kill her. He did dispose of her body for a high price, but he never meant to do that. She was covered in a bag and he was told it's a dead animal. He was just stupid and did not ask any questions…”
She continued,“...but this file includes that bruises on Jessica's body are from...
