Apart from destiny 😔
Tears flowed down my cheeks as I struggled to process the truth. All this time, I held onto false hope, and now it shattered into millions of pieces. I forced a small, sarcastic smile and said, "Well, isn't that just great?" I got up from the bench and tried to walk away, but he grabbed my hand.
"Please don't be mad," he whispered, but I snatched my hand away from his grasp.
"Why shouldn't I be? You led me on for years, making me think that we had a chance. I confided in you, shared my hopes and dreams, and now you're just telling me that it was all for nothing?"
His expression softened. "I'm sorry. I truly am. I never meant to hurt you."
I wiped my tears away with the back of my hand. "It's too late for that. I can't turn back time and unfeel everything that I felt for you. I can't unsee the future that I thought we could have had. You broke my heart, and I don't know if it can ever be repaired again."
He nodded, understandingly. "I know. I understand if you never want to speak to me again, but please know that I do value our friendship. And I do care for you."
I shook my head and muttered, "Some friend."
As I walked away, I couldn't help but wonder if I was the only one who wasn't consulted about their decision to move on. I felt betrayed and alone, and I wondered if I would ever trust anyone again. But as I walked, I remembered something my grandmother once told me, "The universe has a funny way of working things out. You may not see it now, but everything happens for a reason."
And with that thought, I continued to walk, ready to tackle whatever the universe had in store for me next.
