Ballads Of Nirvana
Chapter 16
Part 5!!!

“But I don’t know anything about my powers. I only know that if I focus on a person for a while I can listen to what they are thinking about or look into their mind.” She looked at Chag, who took almost three rounds around her examining her physique.

“Your ears are so small.” Chag said, Indriya shot him an exasperated glance. “I am sorry, but they are very tiny.”

“Chag, what about my shield?” She asked as she shook her head.
“Well, according to the information I collected, your mother’s shield was quite flexible, it would take up almost any shape of size and was feather light. And it depends on the wielder’s creativity how you use it, as a weapon or as protection.” He stopped in front of her.

“So, I can do anything with what I have?” She asked, and she thought of a golden gun in her head.
“Yes, anything as long as it does not exhaust you, your magic is extremely powerful hence, it takes up a lot of energy.” Chag said, shrugging his shoulders. “But you have to learn to make it voluntary first.”

“Hmm.”
Agni and Chag first taught her a few combat moves, and Agni complimented (yes, Agni, Complimented her) that she was showing great progress in her techniques and Chag complimented her that she was combat smart.

Then all of a sudden Chag yanked her by wrapping his arms around her, picked her up and threw her down, the vibration shook her spine and neck but once again her shield showed up, bright and dazzling white.
Agni and Chag blindfolded her and attacked her in all different ways, that made her breath wheeze out of lungs and made her curse whenever they attacked her, and each time they attacked her shield protected her, and everytime it got hit, it softly hummed.
By the end of her training, Indriya’s hands were shivering and she jumped at the smallest sound, yet she didn’t complain. She felt like hurling her guts out.
Indriya was so exhausted that she swooned while they climbed the stairs. She slumped onto her bed and fell asleep in a fraction of a second.

“Wake up, wake up, Princess! Agni’s mother, the Queen of Bhadra, will arrive in two hours. Oh my god! Wake up!” Indriya almost fell off of her bed, she was on her feet in an instant like a prey sensing danger. She noticed that she probably would not have done that before, She would have rolled out of her bed like a dumpling.
“Who is coming, again?” She asked mumbling, lowering her eyebrows at Mythri who was pacing her room.
“Agni’s stepmother, the Queen of Bhadra, Aahlada Tamas. She would like to see you the moment she arrives, you have to get dressed, go take a bath, let me choose your dress and jewellery. Go!” Mythri pushed Indriya into the washroom, only with a towel.
Indriya scrubbed herself clean with the basil and soap nut shampoo, which had a fruity and fresh smell. She came out of the washroom with a towel wrapped around herself to find a beautiful maroon and cobalt blue pure silk half saree. Very traditional.

Indriya quickly put on the dress, the elegant jewellery and she realised she looked like a Princess. A true Princess. She braided her hair and put on her arm cuffs and gold bangles. She put on a rose at the top of her braid and loved the way she looked.
Indriya examined herself in the mirror, she looked stunning, and in a way strong, but beautiful.

Agni knocked on the Princess’s door twice and didn’t wait for a reply as he entered her room. He found the Princess standing in front of the mirror. He gawked at the woman he saw, a woman, not a girl. He was looking at her, the way she stood, with her held high and her shoulders rolled back, gracefully, like a Princess, a real one. Right of fairy tales or books he had read.
He now understood what Mythri meant when she called the Princess ‘royal’.
She meant that being a Queen was in her blood, it was a part of who she was and will always be. Not just a namesake queen, but a benevolent people lover.

“Well well, Princess, you don’t look bad.” He purred.
“Really? Just how bad do I not look?” She arched her eyebrows in a way that made his gut tug. She smiled and then for a second Agni felt like the world around him dissolved into nothing.
“Not bad. In fact, not bad at all.” He gave her a sly smile and leaned against the door.
“Tell me Princey, are you only here to flirt with me or is there another purpose for your visit?” She asked, setting her ooni.
“Yes, my mother has arrived and she wishes to see you.” He said, casually.
“The Queen of Bhadra. She is here, finally.” The Princess’s eyes were distant, like his own eyes were whenever he thought of Bhadra and she sighed heavily. He could almost hear her heart hammering against her chest.
“Yes, let’s go.” He opened the door for her and followed her out of her room. ————————----------
Indriya’s heart was racing, and there were butterflies tickling the walls of her stomach. She was going to meet a Queen and she didn’t even know what to say to her and what the Queen might ask.
Agni was telling her about his stepmother as they descended the stairs, her likes, dislikes and all that, but not once did he ask her to behave in a particular manner.
“Tell me something useful, Agni. What do I care if she likes her tea in a red cup or a white one. How do I care if she hates roses and likes jasmines?!” Indriya was annoyed by the information Agni was giving to her, she noticed that he was just as nervous as she was as his jaw was tightly clenched and his shoulders were squared.

“Okay, so she does not like underconfident princesses. In fact she hates people who are not like you.” He smiled. “Don’t worry Princess, she is just another woman. She is as old as your mother. You will be fine, just be you, okay.” He smiled at her, amiably.

“Yeah, I know.” She said to herself more than to Agni and smiled at how he was trying to calm her nerves that seemed to pop out from her brain.
