The Tower, Chapter 18
"Shit!" A voice shouted. "She's bleeding out!" Another voice shouted. Who? Who's bleeding out. "What do we do!?" Shouted another voice. Those idiots. Even I know. If someone is bleeding out then you need to grab a shirt or something and use it to put pressure on the wound.

"No! Damnit! She isn't breathing!" A voice shouted, their voice shaky. Who isn't breathing? My eyes fluttered open. It's so dark? I groaned. My head hurts like hell. I rolled onto my side and my eyes widened. "TJ...?" I muttered. Mike, Grace, and Eliza were all on their knees beside TJ.

There was a pool of blood on the ground. "No..." I mumbled. Tears streamed down my cheeks. I crawled over to them, despite feeling dizzy and weak. "What's wrong with her? Why is she bleeding?" I asked no one in particular. "Her head busted open!" Mike shouted frantically, his hands shaking and covered in blood.

Her... head? No. No no no. "Take off your shirt, now." I commanded Mike. He tore off his shirt without even asking questions. I filled his shirt up and lifted TJ's head. "Eliza, hold his shirt to her head. Press hard, we need to stop the bleeding." I commanded.

Eliza nodded and took the shirt from me. I placed my ear above TJ's mouth. Shit. They were right. She isn't breathing. I pressed TJ's nose closed and put my lips to hers, blowing air into her mouth. After doing this for a few seconds, she started breathing on her own again.

"Thank god." I said. "Is she gonna be okay?" Grace asked. "Yes. Why didn't you just use your healing skill on her?" I asked. More tears flowed down her cheeks. "I tried but it didn't work. I think the skill needs to be at a high level for that." She replied. I nodded.

Makes sense. I set my hand on my chest and took deep breaths, trying to calm my heart. I did my best not to look at TJ. Her skin is so pale and there's so much blood. "Oh shit." Mike muttered looking at me. "What?" I asked. "Your head is bleeding a little." He replied. I nodded. I'm not surprised.

"Can I try to heal it?" Grace asked. I nodded. She placed her hands above my head wound and said, "Goddess, heed my call and heal this unworthy soul." She said. Suddenly, there was a burning sensation on my head but it quickly disappeared, along with the pain I had been feeling.

"Thanks." I told Grace. She nodded. "No problem." She replied. I looked around and scowled. We're were in a cylindrical room and a hundred feet or so above us was the crack. There were no stairs or ladder or anything we could use to get out of here. Status Window.

I scooted back and pressed my back against the wall. After a moment, I allocated three points to wisdom but the wisdom stat only went up by one. Scowled. This is a scam. Suddenly, a new window appeared in front of my status window.

Congratulations player! You are now level two. More information is now available on your status window. You are the first player to reach level! To celebrate the achievement, you will be rewarded with a high tier skill!

My status screen disappeared for a moment before popping back up, now updated.

Creation, huh? Wonder what I can create. I pressed on the creation skill just to see if anything would happen. Before me, a new screen appeared.

Creation (Lv 1)

In order to create, the user must have an image in mind and say the word 'creation'. If nothing happens then the skills level isn't high enough to create the object. You can only create objects, not living organisms.

I see! So when I press on a skill, it gives me a description and tells me how to use it. That's very useful. Hmm... Ladder. "Creation." I whispered so no one would hear. Nothing happened. If that didn't work then maybe... wooden plank. "Creation." I whispered.

Before me a wooden plank appeared on the ground. I smiled. It has the exact specifications I had envisioned. "Creation." I whispered. Now, a pickaxe sat before. "Creation." Now there were two pickaxes. "Creation." A rope appeared on top of the pickaxes. "Where did you get those?" Mike asked, looking up. I smiled at him.

"I invested all of my point into the wisdom stat and leveled. I got a message saying I was the first player to reach level two and I got a new skill as a reward. The skill is called 'creation'. All I have to do is envision an object in my mind while I say 'creation' and it'll appear before me. If my skills level isn't high enough then nothing will appear." I explained. Mike nodded.

He left Grace, Eliza, and TJ and sat beside me. "What do you plan to do with two pickaxes, a rope, and a wood plank?" He asked. I smiled at him. "The wooden plank was a test. However, the two pickaxes and rope are for you. Do you know how to rock climb?" I asked, grinning.

He gulped and looked up and then back at me. "Yes." He squeaked, looking incredibly nervous as he realized my plan. "Perfect. Here's the plan. Your going to wrap the rope firmly around you so it can't fall. Then, take the two pickaxes and begin your ascent up the wall. When you reach the top, wrap one end of the rope firmly around your waist and toss the other end back in. Make sure you're firmly grounded in your position. " I said.

He nodded. "Got it." He squeaked. We both stood and I handed him the rope. He tied it tightly around his waist. I handed him the two pickaxes. "Oh, one more thing. How many points do you have?" I asked. "Three." He replied. I nodded. "Invest one into strength, one into endurance, and one into stamina." I replied he nodded.

He pulled up his status window and allocated the points. He took a deep breath and looked down at his body. "Holy crap!" He said. "What?" I asked, confused. "I feel so much stronger. I feel like I could lift up an entire mountain!" He exclaimed. I smiled.

"That's good. Hopefully, that'll help you climb the damn wall." I replied. He nodded. He swung his pickaxe and began his ascent. "Where is he going?" Grace asked when I sat down beside her.

"He's going to climb to the top and toss a rope down for us." I replied. She nodded and gave Mike a worried look before focusing back on TJ. "Her heartbeat is faint. I don't know how long she has left." Grace whimpered. I clenched my teeth.

Not today, TJ. I'm not letting go of you, ever. "Grace, how many points do you have?" I asked. "Four." She replied. I nodded. "Invest all four points into wisdom." I told her. "Why?" She asked. "If I'm right, you'll level up and, hopefully, get a skill as a reward. Maybe that skill will be able to help TJ." I replied. She nodded.

Suddenly, a bright light engulfed her body. She stared at me in amazement as the light faded. "You were right! I leveled up and got a new skill!" She told me. "What does the skill do?" I asked. "Hm. Its called the Goddess's blessing. It says that if I bestow this blessing upon someone, the they will be unable to die for two hours. It also says that I can't use it on myself. There is a two hour cool down so I can only use it once every two hours." She replied. I nodded. Perfect.

"Use it on TJ, now." I commanded. She nodded. "Oh Goddess, please place thy hands upon this girls unholy soul and give her your blessing." She said. A white glow emanated from Grace's hands as they hovered above TJ's body.

TJ's body was engulfed in a white light and just as quickly, the light disappeared. I placed my hand over TJ's heart. "Her heartbeats stronger." I said, smiling. Grace smiled back. "Does anyone want to get out of the hole, or....?" A voice shouted above.

I looked up just I time to see the end of the rope being tossed down. I smiled. "Alright. Grace, you go up first. When you get up there, help Mike keep a hold on the rope." I said. She nodded. "Are you sure? Maybe you should go first." She said.

I shook my head. "I'm going last. I'll need to tie a secure knot around TJ so you all can pull her up safely." I said. She nodded. She stood and walked over to the rope. "Hold it steady! I'm coming up!" Grace shouted.

She grabbed a hold of the rope and began climbing. "Eliza?" I asked. She looked up at me. "How have you been doing? I realize we haven't been able to talk alone since... well, you know." I said.

She nodded and sighed. "I've been surviving, I guess. That's a good thing. As you know, I stayed home sick when everything began. What I didn't mention was that I was faking it. I just didn't want to go to school." She said with a small laugh. I smiled.

"I was in the living room when I heard screams outside. I heard dad's voice screaming and shouting for help. When I opened the curtain... those things were on top of him, eating him. They would have devoured him hole if something hadn't caught their attention." She said.

She shivered. I placed my hand on her shoulder. "It's okay. You don't have to talk about-" I began but was cut off. "Eliza! Your turn!" Shouted Grace. "Alright, time for you to head up." I said. Eliza nodded. I took over pressing Mike's shirt against TJ's head.

"Thanks." Eliza told me. "For what?" I asked. She just shook her head and began climbing. I'm beginning to feel frustrated. Why do people keep thanking me and then not answering when I ask why?! I gently pulled Mike's shirt away from TJ's head and was relieved to see that Grace's curse prevented any more blood from coming out of TJ's head.

Thank god for Grace and her being a priestess of some sort of tower goddess. I gently wiped the sweat off of TJ's pale face. She has to be okay. She just has to. "Bring her up!" Eliza called down. "Got it!" I shouted back. I left TJ's side and guided the rope over to her body. I tied the rope around her waist and upper back.

I looked around and found her backpacks. I placed the backpacks on her stomach. "Pull her up!" I shouted. TJ started moving further into the air as the others pulled her up. Finally, I saw the others pull her over the edge. They tossed the rope back down. "Your turn, Farah!" Mike called.

"Hold it steady. I'm coming up!" I shouted back. I grabbed onto the rope and began climbing. Finally, I grabbed onto the edge and, with the help of Mike, made it over. "Thank god we all made it in one piece." Grace said. I smiled.

"Don't you mean thank Goddess?" I asked. She smirked and slapped my arm lightly. "Whatever." She replied. We all stared down the tunnel. "We're not going to be able to heal TJ if we just sit here. We have to keep moving." I said. They nodded in agreement. "Let's go bash some brains." I said.

She marched down the hallway, Mike carrying TJ in his arms. We need to find someone who can heal TJ, quick. She may not have much time left. I won't have TJ's last memories of me being angry with her. I won't allow it.
