I've watched football with my eyes since 1996 when I sat with my dad and neighbours in a small living room as we saw Nigeria win Africa's first soccer olympic gold.
I have loved Zidane, Jay Jay, Rui Costa, Cristiano Ronaldo, Figo,Edgar Davids, Dennis Bergkamp etc I watched soccer in its peak of flair and technique that filled the late late 90's up until the 2000's
I watched old videos of Maradona, Cryjuff, Pele, george best,dancing through defences and taking on 5,6, players.
I've also watched it evolve to this present age of machines, tactical nous, supreme athleticism ,effectiveness and stat merchants and I can tell you by 2010 it was already clear that Messi was in a different plane!
Messi is the consumation of the glory of the 80's, 90', 2000's and this Era.
And he's nothing of the shames of those era, not the drugs, women, pride, ostentatiousness, bar fights, immorality, greed and other vices that shadowed the greats.
In him we see all the era's, flair, technique, intelligence, athleticism all embedded in a nature of virtue, self control, respect, humility, sanity, family, leadership, patriotism, loyalty sportsmanship, wisdom, charity, innocence, faith!.
A proud argentine, a loving father, an athlete who as a millionaire went back home to marry his high-school sweetheart, never mentioned in any scandal. A man with the character of a child and the talent of a demi-god!
This little man of Rosario is a hero to us all and en example to future generations whether it be sports or medicine.
