She chose her cleanest piece of clothing to wear. It was a festival afterall and she wanted to celebrate with everyone else. When she stepped into the street a speeding car drove by splashing dirty water on her.
A tear fell down her cheek. The poor had no right to celebrate... she was drenched in dirty water ,her favorite and beautiful white dress ,was more than just a rug.
Anastasia, beautiful black girl,was a maid in the mansion of the richest man in the town.Her mother was the chief cook ,and her father was the chauffeur.
Her parents were living with the Agyares before she was born.
Anastasia was the only child of her aged parents ,she attended the public school in their neighbourhood.She was a brilliant girl and always did well in academics.
The towns' annual festival was drawing near ,and that was the time the town bachelors came home from the big city to choose their Brides.
Ana Maame,as Anastasia's mother was called,saved for this occasion and prayed her daughter will find a good man who will love her and help her to complete her education ,and marry her.She bought a nice white lacey material ,and sewed a beautiful dress for Anastasia.
Anastasia was so happy and thanked her mother for the dress .
She couldn't wait for that special day .
The festival begun with a durbar of chiefs .The Paramount chiefs will display their culture and dance,it was very colorful and the young bachelors would be seated by then.
Anastasia was in a hurry to get to the festival grounds early,she did not see the car speeding towards her and splashing the dirty water on her dress.
As the young lady sobbed and feeling so miserable,she did not noticed the car had stopped and a gentleman step out of the car.He was the youngest son of the Agyares,who had returned home from school as a Lawyer,he was late for the festival, thus the speed with which he drove .
Tyron Agyare ,was so sad he messed up Anastasia 's dress.
He apologized and offered to buy her a new dress , Anastasia accepted the offer ,she cleaned up and they went to the festival together.
They enjoyed the day and became friends .
