The people meant to say that earlier cases of dowry and domestic violence had been documented, if this law were passed, then cases of marital rape would be documented as well. In the meantime, people started raising questions about divorce alimony due to the separation of actors Dhanush and Aishwarya. Twitter started trending with #marriagestrike as a result.
It was then that the series of anti-marriage tweets began. In terms of personal choice, the decision to not marry was fine up to that point. However, the majority of the tweets were anti-feminist.
