The Real Book
#WritcoStoryChallenge

The streetlights were dim as the mist enclosed it in its mysterious grip. She peered out of her window into the darkness, was there someone out there or was it her imagination? She tried to see properly but was unable to because of the mist. She was curious as the same time she was scared for she thought what would anyone do in the midnight on the road in such a cold weather.

Winds started to blow from the north so she closed her window, but she was still curious to know. Monica looked at the clock, it was showing 1:30 in the morning. She didn't feel sleepy at all. She started reading a book with a small lamp beside.

(The story in the book is prevalent with my story so here is a brief summary of it.)
'The book was of a boy who lived alone in a small house at the end of a village. One night he was sleeping when he realised that someone alse was also in the house. He started to look around in his house when suddenly he fell down the stairs that reaches the basement. The door locked and never opened.'

Monica found the book few days back in the attic. She bought this last month after shifting here. She lived alone. Her hobby was to read old books so this one was like a blessing.

She was in the middle of reading when suddenly she heard a noise of utensils from the kitchen. She thought it might be the rats so she went down with a peast repellent. She tried to switch on the lights but was unable to. The electricity went out few hrs back. So she took a torch and continued searching for it. The sound of the strong winds were heard clearly. She looked out of the window from the room and again saw that shadow figure. She was now scared.

There was a basement below whose stairs were connected to the kitchen. She thought of checking there. She took the torch and opened the door. Spiders webs had covered every inch of it as if it was locked for many years.

She started walking down when suddenly someone pushed her from behind. She fell down and lost her consciousness. The door locked by itself. She was holding the book which she left in the dinning table. Winds were blowing it's pages when suddenly it stopped in the last page. It said, "The boy was never again seen in the village".
